Those prices were reported around February 17, 2026—not verified August prices—so treat them as buy-now thresholds, not live offers. Presidents’ Day fell on February 16, and retailers extended some promotions through that week. Tom’s Guide’s deal tracker is the source for the historical prices.
The LG B5 is still a real 2025 U.S. model, but LG’s current page shows a newer B6 and lists the 65-inch B5 at $1,999.99. That is why every price below is date-stamped and labeled by availability status.
Presidents’ Day TV deal status at a glance
The table separates historical sale prices from products that may still be sold. “Retailer availability unknown” means a manufacturer or editorial page does not prove that a new, returnable unit is currently in stock.
| TV | Size | February price reported | Best for | Status as of August 2026 | My buy threshold |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LG B5 OLED | 55/65/77 inches | $899/$999/$1,499 | OLED value and gaming | Model available in LG support; February deal expired; retailer stock unknown | Buy the 65-inch near $999; consider a C5 when the premium is small |
| Hisense U6 Mini-LED | 65 inches | $549 | Bright rooms and sports | Likely expired; current price not verified | Buy near $549 if new with normal returns |
| TCL QM6K/QM5K Mini-LED | Various | Not stated in source | Lower-cost gaming and brightness | Retailer availability unknown | Choose it when substantially cheaper than an OLED |
| Samsung S85F OLED | 55 inches | Sale price not stated in source | Samsung OLED entry point | Retailer availability unknown | Buy only after comparing brightness and price with LG B5/C5 |
| Sony Bravia 5 | Various | Sale price not stated in source | Processing and PlayStation features | Retailer availability unknown | Pay extra only for Sony processing and console features |
| onn. 4K Roku TV | 65 inches | $278 | Lowest-cost large screen | February deal likely expired; model availability unknown | Buy near $278 for a secondary room, not premium HDR |
| Samsung 98-inch Crystal TV | 98 inches | Sale price not stated in source | Maximum size per dollar | Retailer availability unknown | Buy only after confirming delivery, installation and return logistics |
The best picks by type of buyer
Best overall value OLED: LG B5
At the reported $999 for 65 inches, the B5 offered OLED’s pixel-level blacks, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Filmmaker Mode, 120Hz gaming, NVIDIA G-Sync and webOS. LG identifies it as a 2025 4K OLED with an Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen2. LG’s product page now lists the 65-inch model at $1,999.99 and notes that a B6 is available, so the February price is not current.

- Supports HDMI ARC - Sends audio directly from the HDMI jack to a compatible soundbar or AV receiver, removing the need for an extra cable.
Buy the B5 when a retailer returns to roughly $999 for 65 inches, $899 for 55 inches or $1,499 for 77 inches. It is less suitable for a very bright room than a strong Mini-LED and deserves caution if you display static logos, dashboards or news tickers for many hours daily.
Best cheap bright-room TV: Hisense U6 Mini-LED
The reported $549 65-inch U6 was aimed at sports and daytime viewing. Mini-LED can deliver more brightness and stronger local dimming than basic edge-lit LED, but budget implementations may show subtitle halos, uneven dimming and less polished motion. Buy near the historical price when brightness matters more than OLED-level black uniformity.

Best budget Mini-LED for gaming: TCL QM6K
The QM6K was positioned as a value gaming set with HDMI 2.1 and a native 144Hz mode. Confirm which HDMI inputs support 4K at high refresh, VRR and ALLM, and whether the advertised rate applies to consoles or only a compatible PC. It is a sensible OLED alternative for a bright room or a buyer unwilling to pay OLED prices.
Best Samsung OLED value: S85F
The S85F is Samsung’s lower-cost OLED choice in the roundup. Compare its brightness, HDMI 2.1 input count and HDR-format preferences with the LG B5 before paying more for Samsung’s interface or ecosystem. The February sale price was not exposed in the available listing, so no exact discount can be verified here.

Best processing and PlayStation fit: Sony Bravia 5
The Bravia 5 targets buyers who value Sony processing, motion handling and PlayStation-oriented features. Its 120Hz capability is useful, but refresh rate alone does not establish gaming superiority; verify VRR, HDMI 2.1 ports and the features supported on each input.
Cheapest large screen: onn. 65-inch 4K Roku TV
At a reported $278, the onn. set was the price-first option. Roku is simple and broadly supported, but this class of TV is not a peer to OLED or Mini-LED for HDR brightness, black levels, processing or build quality. It makes sense for a bedroom, rental or guest room when the absolute price is the deciding factor.

Biggest screen: 98-inch Samsung Crystal and other large sets
A 98-inch Crystal TV, 75-inch Insignia Fire TV, Samsung U7900 or TCL T7 can maximize screen size, but budget large panels commonly compromise on local dimming, uniformity, processing, speakers and construction. Measure the wall and seating distance, confirm threshold versus room-of-choice delivery, and plan installation before ordering.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How the OLED choices differ
- LG B5: lowest-cost OLED recommendation; lower brightness and processing headroom than higher LG tiers.
- LG C5: the better all-rounder when its price premium over the B5 is modest.
- Samsung S85F: entry Samsung OLED; compare brightness and HDR preferences before choosing it over LG.
- Samsung S90D and S95F: potentially brighter and more colorful, but usually worth the extra cost only for demanding HDR viewing.
- Sony Bravia 8: strong processing and color, not automatically the best value for gaming or brightness; it was already a previous-generation model in the February roundup.
- Panasonic Z95B: premium positioning, but U.S. stock and pricing require separate verification.
Older models such as the S90D and Bravia 8 can be excellent bargains when clearance pricing is real. Check the exact suffix, condition, remaining inventory and return policy because a retailer may substitute open-box or marketplace stock.

Gaming checklist before you buy
- Native 120Hz or higher refresh rate.
- At least one HDMI 2.1 input supporting 4K/120Hz.
- VRR and ALLM for your console or PC.
- Dolby Vision gaming if that format matters to you.
- Input-lag results from an independent test, rather than refresh rate alone.
- Confirmation that the required features work on the inputs you will use.
The LG B5 combines 4K/120Hz, Dolby Vision and G-Sync. TCL’s QM6K advertises 144Hz, while Hisense U7QG/U8QG models advertise 165Hz. Samsung S85F/S90D and Sony Bravia 5 support 120Hz-class gaming. These specifications do not by themselves prove lower input lag or better motion.
How to tell whether a discount is real
- Record the exact model number and screen size; suffixes can change tuners, stands, remotes or features.
- Check the price in the cart and note whether a membership, coupon, pickup requirement or shipping charge applies.
- Confirm the item is new, not open-box, refurbished or sold by a marketplace seller.
- Compare the same size and model across retailers instead of comparing a smaller set with a larger one.
- Treat “lowest price ever” or “cheapest I’ve seen” as the deal editor’s claim unless a dated price history proves it. Prices can move within hours; the source noted one OLED rising $50 in a single day.
Returns, delivery and panel risk
Keep the shipping carton until the return window closes. Inspect the screen immediately for cracks, dead pixels, banding and severe uniformity problems, and photograph shipping damage before disposal. Verify whether delivery is threshold-only or includes room placement. Large TVs can be expensive and difficult to return, and retailer restocking rules vary.
What to buy now—and when to wait
- Buy: a 65-inch LG B5 near the historical $999 level, if you want OLED contrast and gaming features.
- Buy: a Hisense U6 near $549 when the room is bright and sports matter more than perfect blacks.
- Buy: a TCL QM6K when it is substantially below comparable OLED pricing and you need high refresh in a bright room.
- Buy: the onn. 65-inch near $278 only when minimum cost is the priority.
- Wait: when the price is close to regular pricing, the listing is open-box or marketplace-only, or a replacement model costs nearly the same.
LG’s B5 support page lists software version 33.31.68 dated June 24, 2026 for one U.S. variant, confirming ongoing support representation but not retail inventory: LG support. The original launch details are documented in LG’s announcement.
