The strongest standouts in Costco’s reported 157-piece Le Creuset set are the large Dutch oven, the crepe pan and the pasta bowls. Their appeal depends on how you cook and serve: one recipient used the Dutch oven often, valued the crepe pan, and used the bowls for serving. The account is useful, but it reflects one person’s experience—not a test or a survey of owners.
Which pieces stood out to an owner?
Eat Your Books’ December 14, 2024, summary of a Food & Wine interview described Valerie Cervantes’s experience after about a year with the set. She had replaced much of her former cookware and dinnerware with it, so her favorites reflect a household making broad use of the collection.
Large Dutch oven
Cervantes said she used the large Dutch oven frequently, including in place of her slow cooker. That makes it the most versatile standout in the reported account, especially for someone who regularly cooks meals suited to a Dutch oven. It does not establish that the pot can replace a slow cooker for every recipe or household.
Crepe pan
The crepe pan was another of Cervantes’s favorites. It is a more specialized piece: its value to a buyer depends on whether crepes or similar foods are part of their routine, rather than on its presence in a large bundle.
#1 Best Overall
- Enameled cast iron delivers superior heat distribution and retention; Ready to use, requires no seasoning
- Easy-to-clean and durable enamel resists dulling, staining, chipping and cracking; Light colored smooth interior enamel allows easy monitoring of cooking progress
- Matte black satin interior enamel is easy to clean and develops a patina over time to enhance cooking performance; Tight-fitting lids are specially designed to circulate steam and return moisture back to the food
- Ergonomic knobs and handles are designed for easy lifting
- Compatible with all cooktops and oven-safe up to 500°F; Safe for dishwasher
Pasta bowls
Cervantes particularly liked the pasta bowls as serving bowls. That makes them relevant to buyers who would use the set’s tableware as well as its cookware; they may be less compelling to someone who already has enough serving dishes.
What else was reported in the bundle?
The Kitchn’s October 23, 2023, coverage described a broad collection spanning Dutch ovens, casserole dishes, baking and roasting trays, frying pans and saucepans, stockpots, gravy dishes, platters, diningware and wine-related items. Parade’s 2023 roundup also described cookware and other categories, including mixing bowls, ramekins and utensils.

- Triple-reinforced surface that is now 4x stronger
- Textured interior promotes browning and searing for exceptional flavor — and easily wipes clean
- Hard anodized aluminum construction allows for quick and even heating
- Stay-cool ergonomic handles allow for quick, comfortable movement
- Compatible with all cooktops and oven-safe up to 500°F (tempered glass lids up to 425°F)
These are broad category descriptions, not a verified piece-by-piece inventory. The available reporting does not establish exact sizes, individual-item counts or a definitive Costco contents list, so treat the 157-piece figure as the reported set count—not as confirmation of a particular item mix.
How to decide whether the set makes financial sense
The Kitchn reported a $4,500 Costco price in October 2023, and Eat Your Books also reported about $4,500 in December 2024. Those are historical reports, not a current quote. Parade reported in 2023 that the set was no longer available on Costco’s website at the time. Current availability and pricing are unverified.

- Stay-cool ergonomic handles allow for quick, comfortable movement
- Compatible with all cooktops and oven-safe up to 500°F (tempered glass lids up to 425°F)
At a reported historical price of about $4,500, the central question is not how many pieces the box contains; it is how many you would actually use. A large collection can be poor value for a buyer who already owns much of it or lacks space, even when the individual items are appealing.
- Expected use: Start with the pieces you would reach for regularly, such as the Dutch oven, rather than counting every item as equal value.
- Overlap: Check whether pans, bowls, baking dishes and tableware duplicate things you already own.
- Storage: Consider where a collection spanning cookware, bakeware and dining pieces would live.
- Buying preference: Decide whether you want a coordinated, broad collection or would rather choose only the pieces you need.
- Total spend: Compare the bundle’s current price, if offered, with the cost of buying your priority pieces individually. The available reporting does not establish a savings percentage.
Cervantes’s favorable experience is most relevant to someone replacing a substantial share of existing cookware and dinnerware who has room to store the collection. It is less persuasive as a reason to buy the entire bundle if only one or two pieces appeal to you.

- Triple layer construction with aluminum core from base to rim provides even heat distribution. Brushed stainless steel ensures a hardwearing finish
- Ergonomic stay-cool handle provides a comfortable grip. Helper handle included on 4 qt. Saucepan and 4.5 qt. Sauté Pan
- Generous loop-style lids are easy to grip with oven mitts
- Laser-etched interior capacity markings speed up prep time. Rolled and sealed precision pour rim limits drips
- Compatible with all cooktops and oven-safe up to 500°F. Safe for dishwasher and metal utensils
Would a smaller set or one piece be a better fit?
The Kitchn’s 2023 article discussed a smaller, mixed-material 20-piece Le Creuset set and individual products as alternatives. It also mentioned an individual 7.25-quart enameled cast-iron Dutch oven. That size was described as an individual alternative; the reporting does not establish that it is the same Dutch oven included in Costco’s bundle.
For a buyer chiefly interested in the standout pot, comparing an individual Dutch oven with a larger set can keep the decision focused on actual needs. Someone seeking a coordinated collection may value the broader assortment instead. Current listings and prices for those alternatives should be checked before buying.

How to care for enameled cast iron
In an article published May 26, 2026, House Beautiful quoted Nate Collier, Le Creuset’s director of marketing communications, advising owners to let cookware cool before washing it and avoid sudden temperature changes. He warned that thermal shock can crack enamel. Collier also said metal tools may be used with care, but should not be scraped across the enamel. Soft cleaning materials are the safer choice.
For stains, that article mentions Le Creuset Cast Iron Cookware Cleaner, Bar Keepers Friend and a baking soda paste. Follow the cookware’s care guidance and the cleaner’s instructions when choosing a method.
