Aeromexico ranked first in Cirium’s 2025 global airline on-time performance ranking, with 90.02% of completed flights arriving at the gate within 15 minutes of schedule. Saudia placed second at 86.53%, followed by SAS at 86.09%. The figures cover January 1 through December 31, 2025, and measure arrivals—not departures. Cirium’s 2025 report and its on-time definition provide the ranking and methodology.
Which airlines had the best on-time performance in 2025?
Here are Cirium’s ten highest-ranked eligible global airlines by on-time arrivals during 2025:

What does “on time” mean in this ranking?
For airline rankings, Cirium counts a flight as on time when the passenger aircraft reaches the gate within 15 minutes of its scheduled arrival. This is different from an airport ranking, which measures on-time departures. Cirium’s definition and methodology explain the distinction.

The table’s percentages are based on completed passenger flights. Cirium reports completion factor separately: it is the percentage of tracked flights that were completed rather than cancelled. A punctuality rate therefore does not, by itself, tell you how often an airline cancelled flights. The report’s methodology and criteria describe these separate measures.
Who qualifies for Cirium’s global airline ranking?
The results cover eligible carriers, not every airline operating worldwide on identical terms. Cirium’s 2025 report required at least 90% actual gate-arrival coverage for airline categories. To enter the Global Airlines category, a carrier also had to rank in the top 10% of passenger airlines by capacity and volume measures—available seat kilometres, flights and seats—and serve at least three regions. Cirium counts a region as served when an airline operates at least one flight per day to or within it; the carrier’s home region counts. Cirium’s criteria provide the full eligibility details.

The report sets separate size thresholds for major-airline regional categories: top 25% in Asia Pacific, top 30% in Europe, top 30% in Latin America, top 20% in Middle East & Africa, and top 15% in North America. These regional thresholds are not the rule for the Global Airlines category.

Think of the result as historical context, not a forecast for your next flight. A global annual average cannot establish which carrier is most punctual on a specific city pair, travel date, season or connection. Weather, air-traffic congestion, technical issues and airport operations can affect punctuality. Check the itinerary and current flight information when planning. Cirium CEO Jeremy Bowen characterized 2025 operating conditions as follows: “Even with clear skies, airlines faced structural constraints, staffing shortages, airspace closures, supply chain issues, and frequent weather disruptions.” That is a broad description of industry conditions, not an explanation of any individual carrier’s position in the ranking. The ranking measures punctuality only. It does not establish that an airline is best overall for safety, comfort, fares, service or passenger satisfaction.
