The 8 Best LED Face Masks of 2026: How to Choose One

The best LED mask depends on your goal, exact device indication, fit, routine, and evidence. Compare notable picks and learn what FDA clearance does—and doesn’t—mean.

The best LED face mask depends on what you want to address, whether the exact model is cleared for that use, and whether its fit and routine make it practical to use consistently. Current editorial picks include the Shark CryoGlow, Dr. Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro, Omnilux Contour Face, CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2, Qure Light Therapy Mask, and Ulike ReGlow—but the available evidence does not establish one winner for every face or goal.

Price and model availability can change. The comparisons below distinguish outlet-reported testing and measurements from FDA device summaries; this article does not claim hands-on testing of all eight masks.

How to choose the best LED face mask

Start with the goal, then check the exact model’s stated indication rather than assuming all masks treat both wrinkles and acne. Consider the light modes and wavelengths, face coverage and fit, session length, and whether the device’s cost and routine are workable for you.

  • Wrinkles or skin texture: Look for a device whose stated use and light mode match that goal.
  • Acne: Check whether the exact mask has an acne indication and a suitable mode; a wrinkle-focused mask is not automatically an acne treatment.
  • Routine: A shorter session may be easier to keep up with, while a mask that feels uncomfortable or cumbersome may be harder to use regularly.
  • Evidence and status: Verify the FDA record for the exact brand and model. A clearance for a similar-looking device does not establish the status of another model.

Eight LED masks to consider

These are editorially selected options, not a ranking supported by a single head-to-head test. WIRED and Women’s Health describe their own review and testing processes; LightTherapyIQ reports a combination of manufacturer specifications, FDA records, and independent measurements. Those methods and claims should not be treated as interchangeable.

Mask What the cited source reports What to check before buying
Shark CryoGlow WIRED names it its overall mask pick. Its review lists $350 at Shark and a discounted $299 Amazon price at the time of publication. It highlights under-eye cryotherapy pads, adjustable straps, and a tethered controller. WIRED also notes bulk and noise. Confirm current price, exact model, fit, and whether the added cooling features suit your routine.
Dr. Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro WIRED names it best for quick sessions and lists $455. Women’s Health describes a three-minute session. Confirm current price and model listing, and check that the device’s stated use fits your goal.
Omnilux Contour Face LightTherapyIQ describes a flexible full-face mask with 132 LEDs at 633 nm red and 830 nm near-infrared, in a mid-$300s price band. It reports approximately 28 mW/cm² measured irradiance. Its claimed clearance lineage to K191629 is characterized by that source as a high-confidence interpretation, not manufacturer-confirmed. Check current price and the exact regulatory record. Do not treat the lineage interpretation as a confirmed clearance for every related model.
CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2 LightTherapyIQ reports 236 LEDs at 633, 830, and 1072 nm, references K250966, and gives a $450–500 price range. It reports an average measured irradiance of 18.5 mW/cm² and 11.2 J/cm² over a ten-minute session, and notes a gap between manufacturer-stated and measured output. Confirm the exact Series 2 device and current price. The output figures are LightTherapyIQ’s reported spectrometer measurements, not a universal specification for other masks.
Qure Light Therapy Mask Women’s Health includes it among its editorial picks. The cited material does not establish its wavelengths, measured output, session length, price, or exact FDA status; verify these for the model you are considering.
Ulike ReGlow Women’s Health includes it among its editorial picks. The cited material does not establish its wavelengths, measured output, session length, price, or exact FDA status; verify these for the model you are considering.
Other Women’s Health picks Women’s Health’s roundup includes additional masks beyond the named models above. The cited material does not identify those remaining picks here, so no additional model names or specifications can be reliably supplied.

The title “8 best” reflects a publisher’s roundup, not a scientific ranking. Women’s Health says its editors have tested and reviewed masks over multiple years and updated its list on September 11, 2026; WIRED says its reviewer tested 22 red-light devices for six to twelve weeks and tracked skin changes, setup, fit, comfort, and safety. These are the outlets’ descriptions of their own work, not tests conducted for this article.

What FDA clearance does—and does not—tell you

A 510(k) clearance means FDA found a device substantially equivalent to legally marketed predicate devices for the relevant use; it is not a comparative ranking and does not prove a mask is the best choice. FDA listing or establishment registration alone is not approval, clearance, or authorization. Check the record for the specific model rather than relying on a brand name or a similar product’s filing.

Example: FDA summary K252994

The FDA’s 2025 summary for an LED Therapy Mask describes a home-use device for full-face wrinkles and mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne. It lists red 630 nm, infrared 830 nm, yellow 590 nm, and blue 415 nm; the summary assigns red plus blue to acne, yellow to firming, and red plus infrared to wrinkles. It says the device was found substantially equivalent to predicate devices, but also states: “The clinical test is not applicable, there’s no clinical data.” That statement applies to this submission, not to all LED masks.

Example: FDA summary K222377

The FDA’s 2022 summary for LED MASK PLATINUM MD describes an over-the-counter device indicated for full-face wrinkles and lists red at 630–690 nm and infrared at 820–880 nm. Its non-clinical measurements and electrical safety testing should not be read as proof of clinical effectiveness beyond the device’s stated indication and clearance framework.

How to interpret light specifications and measurements

Wavelengths describe the color or spectral band of light; irradiance describes power reaching an area, while an energy-per-area figure such as J/cm² incorporates exposure time. Comparing a manufacturer’s advertised output with another publisher’s independent measurement is not an apples-to-apples comparison unless the measurement method, distance, coverage, and session conditions match.

For example, LightTherapyIQ reports 18.5 mW/cm² average measured irradiance and 11.2 J/cm² over ten minutes for CurrentBody Series 2, while reporting approximately 28 mW/cm² independently measured for Omnilux Contour Face. These are that publication’s reported figures, and they do not by themselves establish that one mask works better. LightTherapyIQ also summarizes the efficacy literature it reviewed as showing modest effects in a consistent direction; that is a secondary-source synthesis, not a new systematic review.

When is an LED mask worth the expense?

It may be worth considering if its stated use matches your goal, you can verify the exact model’s regulatory status and specifications, and its fit and session schedule are realistic for repeated use. Be cautious about paying a premium based only on a large LED count, an FDA listing, or a claim that a mask is “best.” Current prices cited by WIRED and LightTherapyIQ are time-sensitive; check the current listing, warranty, and return terms before deciding.

For a financial decision, compare the full cost with how often you expect to use the mask and what alternatives you would otherwise pay for. The available sources do not provide a basis for promising a particular result, savings, or payback period.
