The $699 iBUYPOWER gaming PC deal was a real Walmart promotion reported during Black Friday week in November 2024, not a verified offer today. Its price once made the comparison with PS5 Pro compelling, but Sony raised the U.S. console’s recommended price to $899.99 effective April 2, 2026. That newer price does not establish that the old PC deal is available—or that a current PC at a similar price matches PS5 Pro.
What did the $699 gaming PC deal include?
HotHardware reported on November 26, 2024, that Walmart was selling an iBUYPOWER Slate 6 Mesh for $699 during Black Friday week. The publication described a $500.99 saving, or a 41.7% discount, against the listing’s stated MSRP. Those figures describe that 2024 promotion only; they are not current pricing or a verified saving today. HotHardware’s original deal report

The reported configuration included an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, an Intel Core i5-13600KF, 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB NVMe SSD. HotHardware also said the offer included a keyboard and mouse, plus a coupon for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
iBUYPOWER’s support page for model SlateMeshI5N4602 documents a closely matching Slate 6 Mesh configuration: Windows 11 Home, Core i5-13600KF, RTX 4060 with 8GB, 16GB DDR5-5200 RGB memory, 1TB NVMe SSD, 240mm liquid cooling and a 750W 80 PLUS Gold power supply. The manufacturer’s page does not establish that every one of those specifications—or the reported peripherals and game coupon—was included in the specific Walmart bundle. How does it compare to a PS5 Pro?
The original price comparison is dated. Sony announced on March 27, 2026 that the U.S. PS5 Pro recommended retail price would rise to $899.99 effective April 2, 2026. The announcement also set recommended prices of £789.99 in the U.K., €899.99 in Europe and ¥137,980 in Japan, effective the same date. These are regional recommended prices, not a guarantee of what every retailer charges. Sony advises buyers in other territories to check local retailers or Direct.PlayStation.com where available. A price gap alone cannot settle which system is better value. The PC’s RTX 4060 supports DLSS Frame Generation, but the available information does not provide controlled game benchmarks comparing this exact desktop with PS5 Pro. HotHardware cautioned that PS5 Pro’s custom hardware has no direct GPU equivalent, while broadly placing its specifications more in line with an RTX 4070. That is a general comparison, not a measured equivalence or proof that either system performs better in a particular game.

The systems also serve different needs. A Windows desktop is a general-purpose computer as well as a gaming machine; PS5 Pro is a console experience. Game performance, available titles, included accessories and games, and each platform’s ecosystem can matter as much as the upfront price.

What to check before buying a similar PC today
The 2024 sale is not evidence of a live listing. Before treating another offer as a replacement, verify the seller, stock status, exact model or SKU, full configuration, included items and total checkout price. A different Slate 6 Mesh configuration—or another RTX desktop—is not automatically equivalent to the one in the old promotion.
