Using Chrono24’s 2026 marketplace measure, the five most sought-after Rolex collections are Datejust, GMT-Master II, Submariner, Cosmograph Daytona and Day-Date. The ranking is based on each collection’s share of Rolex transaction value on Chrono24—not Rolex production, worldwide unit sales, authorized-dealer waitlists or a guarantee that any model will rise in price.

Chrono24’s Rolex Report 2026 analyzed several million completed transactions from 2018 through the second quarter of 2026. Its collection ranking is a useful current snapshot, but the percentages are approximate and should not be added together as if they were audited global market shares.

“Most sought-after” changes when the metric changes. Chrono24 also publishes a separate best-selling-reference list based on transaction volume, so a collection’s value share is not the same thing as the number of watches sold.

What buyers are choosing inside each collection

Datejust: the broadest demand

Datejust is the largest collection in the 2026 report at approximately 28% of Rolex transaction value. Its breadth matters: buyers can choose among different case sizes, metals, dial designs, bracelets and generations. That variety helps it reach both first-time Rolex buyers and collectors looking for a more versatile daily watch.

GMT-Master II: the strongest cluster of best-selling references

Three GMT-Master II references appear among Chrono24’s eight best-selling Rolex references by transaction volume: the 126710BLNR (“Batman”), 126710BLRO (“Pepsi”) and 126710GRNR (“Bruce Wayne”). The collection represents about 14% of Rolex transaction value in the report.

Submariner: date and no-date demand

The Submariner accounts for about 12% of collection transaction value. Chrono24’s examples include the Submariner Date 126610LN, the no-date 124060 and the green-bezel 126610LV, commonly called the “Starbucks.”

Cosmograph Daytona: concentrated, high-value interest

The Cosmograph Daytona also represents about 12%. The report specifically identifies the discontinued steel Daytona 116500LN among its best-selling references, illustrating why a collection’s transaction-value share can be substantial even when demand is concentrated in particular configurations.

Day-Date: a precious-metal choice

Day-Date makes up about 6% of Rolex transaction value. Its precious-metal construction and President bracelet give it a different buyer profile from the steel-heavy sports collections.

Reference-level marketplace estimates

The following figures are Chrono24’s estimated marketplace values for 2026 year-to-date best-selling references. They are not official Rolex retail prices, guaranteed sale proceeds or investment forecasts. Currency, date, condition and transaction basis matter.

The sad reality: demand survived, but the pandemic premium did not

Chrono24’s price index was about 55% above its 2019 level and had risen roughly 7% over the year before its August 5, 2026 report. That does not mean every reference rose by that amount, nor does it establish a future return.

The same analysis says Rolex’s marketplace share moved back near its pre-2019 level after reaching a 44% peak in early 2022. Since 2023, Chrono24 reports a decline of 3 to 8 percentage points across price segments. Its interpretation is that younger buyers have shifted part of their spending to other brands and to classic watches such as the Datejust.

Balazs Ferenczi, Chrono24’s Head of Brand Engagement, summarized the platform’s interpretation this way: “The pandemic premium is unwound. The clearest signal is generational: younger buyers drove the boom, and they are the ones now moving to other brands and to classic watches like the Datejust. Rolex still sets the tone, but buyers spread their money across more brands than they did three years ago”.

Where Rolex demand is strongest on Chrono24

Regional figures are also marketplace-specific, not measures of all watch sales. Among North American Chrono24 buyers, Rolex represented 35% of watch transaction volume, up from about 27% in 2018. In Asia, the share moved from the low 30s to around 20%.

A separate Chrono24 analysis covering the first quarter of 2020 through the fourth quarter of 2024 put Rolex at 34.2% of global secondary luxury-watch transaction volume, with a 43.9% peak in the first quarter of 2022. Because the dates and measures differ, those figures should not be combined with the 2026 collection ranking.

What these numbers mean for a buyer

Choose the watch before treating it as an asset

The ranking can show where marketplace activity is concentrated, but it cannot tell you which watch is financially suitable. A purchase should start with intended use, service costs, insurance, liquidity needs and the risk of paying more than you can comfortably afford.

Separate retail, secondary-market and listing prices

Chrono24’s estimates describe completed marketplace transactions. They are not Rolex’s official prices and should not be compared with an authorized retailer’s price without matching the reference, condition, accessories, taxes, currency and date.

Do not infer a wait time

High transaction activity does not establish current authorized-retailer stock or a particular waitlist length. The available 2026 analyses do not provide a comprehensive global waitlist dataset.

Check the exact reference and condition

• Confirm the reference number and whether the watch is date or no-date, steel or precious metal, and current or discontinued.
• Compare recent completed transactions rather than relying on an asking price.
