How to read the salary figures
Estimated compensation is not a disclosed paycheck
Capology says its salary figures are estimates, not official figures. For players whose figures are not verified, estimates may be generated algorithmically. Its 2026–27 Premier League page estimates Haaland’s gross fixed salary at £27.3 million per year, or £525,000 per week, excluding bonuses, image rights, commercial deals and other benefits. That is a separate fixed-salary measure from the $61.4 million total-compensation estimate in the USA TODAY/AOL ranking. Capology’s 2026–27 Premier League salaries and contracts also cautions that bonus estimates may be incomplete.

Base wages and total compensation produce different rankings
A February 23, 2026 Sporting News ranking, also attributing figures to Capology, uses base wages and excludes signing bonuses and potential add-on incentives. It reports Bukayo Saka’s base wage estimate as £195,000 per week and annual bonuses as £5.2 million. Sporting News says a widely reported wage of more than £300,000 per week includes a signing bonus. Those are Sporting News’ accounts of Capology and BBC reporting, not official club disclosures. The figures should not be treated as directly interchangeable with the later USA TODAY/AOL list, which includes estimated salary and bonuses. Sporting News’ February 23, 2026 salary ranking.

Before comparing rankings, check what each list measures and when it was assembled. A reported weekly wage can refer to fixed base pay, while another annual figure may add estimated bonuses. Amounts may also differ because of currency, treatment of loan arrangements, or inclusion of image-rights and commercial income.

- Snapshot and season: Transfers, new contracts and database updates can change estimates. The table above is specifically a 2026–27 snapshot published September 6, 2026.
- Pay definition: Fixed or base wages are not the same as total estimated compensation that includes bonuses.
- Currency: Compare like with like, or establish the exchange-rate date and source before converting pounds to dollars.
- Included income: Capology’s stated fixed-salary measure excludes image rights, commercial deals, bonuses and other benefits; another list may use a different scope.
- Estimate status: Check whether a figure is reported or verified, or estimated algorithmically.
The ranking is therefore best read as one source’s estimate of compensation for a particular season—not a definitive accounting of every player’s complete income.
