Crypto advocacy and a recent Senate vote have put crypto policy in the midterm conversation, but neither establishes how voters will act or what the election outcome will be.
When is the election?
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) lists November 3, 2026, as the date of the congressional general election. Federal law sets congressional elections for the Tuesday after the first Monday in November in even-numbered years.
That is the federal general-election date, not a complete calendar for every race. Primaries, ballot-access deadlines and special elections can vary by state and contest. For those details, check the FEC’s election-dates information and the relevant state election authority.
The FEC also gives these dates for the 2026 congressional election cycles. A cycle is the period used for campaign-finance reporting and aggregation; it is not the date when voters cast ballots.

What does crypto have to do with the midterms?
Crypto advocacy groups are trying to make candidates’ positions visible to voters. Stand With Crypto says it has announced a new bipartisan slate of midterm endorsements and offers a voter hub showing candidates’ crypto positions.

That is an advocacy organization’s account of its work, not an official election resource. An endorsement is not a complete account of a candidate’s record, and a position listed in an advocacy hub should be checked against the candidate’s own statements and, where relevant, legislative votes.
What happened in the Senate?
The Associated Press reported that a September 15, 2026, Senate effort to advance cryptocurrency regulation failed on a 49–50 vote. AP described the vote as an election-year test. That characterization is political framing, not evidence that crypto will determine election results or that voters will prioritize the issue.

A vote to advance a measure is also distinct from enactment: the reported result does not mean the proposed regulation became law.
How can you compare candidates’ crypto positions?
Use the voter hub as a starting point, then compare like with like rather than treating an endorsement or a single position as a full record.

- Stated position and voting record: Compare what a candidate says with any relevant votes they have cast. Candidates without a legislative record cannot be evaluated on votes they have not taken.
- Candidate position and endorsement: An advocacy group’s endorsement is its judgment. It does not, by itself, establish the full substance or consistency of a candidate’s views.
- Proposal and enacted law: Separate a bill or effort to advance legislation from a law that has passed and taken effect.
- Election information and advocacy: Use official election sources for dates, registration and voting procedures; use campaign or advocacy materials to understand political positions, bearing in mind who published them.
What does “next month” mean in this title?
“Next month” depends on when the original item was published. The original source and publication date for the exact title have not been established here, so the phrase cannot safely be treated as a reference to November 2026. For the current U.S. federal frame, the relevant date is November 3, 2026; a different original publication context could point to a different election.
