The 20-Minute Trader Joe’s Langostino Pasta Recipe We’ll Make on Repeat

This Trader Joe’s-inspired pasta pairs frozen langostino tails with the store’s lobster bisque for a quick, creamy seafood sauce. The recipe’s source reports a 20-minute cook time and an estimated $6 per serving, but those figures come from a May 23, 2025 article—not a current price check or an independently timed test.

What makes this Trader Joe’s pasta recipe quick?

The shortcut is the sauce: instead of building a seafood sauce from scratch, the recipe combines thawed frozen langostino with Trader Joe’s lobster bisque. Onion, garlic, and cherry tomatoes form the sautéed base; lemon, Parmesan, and parsley finish the dish. The source presents it as a 20-minute recipe, though actual timing depends on preparation and cooking speed.

Despite the “lobster pasta” shorthand, the seafood specified is langostino, not established lobster meat. The recipe was covered by Andrea Lobas for Allrecipes and republished by AOL on May 23, 2025. That article says the idea seems to have originated with the social account traderjoes5itemsorless and resurfaced for the Allrecipes team through TikToker _bossv.

Ingredients and method

The source describes the following method and quantities; they have not been independently tested here.

  1. Cook one pound of your preferred pasta shape according to its package directions. Reserve some pasta water if you want to loosen the sauce later.
  2. While the pasta cooks, sauté about half a diced onion and a few chopped garlic cloves in olive oil until soft.
  3. Add halved cherry tomatoes and cook until soft and fragrant. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Add thawed, rinsed frozen langostino meat and Trader Joe’s lobster bisque. Heat through.
  5. Season to taste with crushed red pepper, Parmesan, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  6. Toss the drained pasta with the sauce so the pasta starch meets the bisque mixture. Finish with fresh parsley and more Parmesan.

The source does not specify exact quantities for the bisque, langostino, tomatoes, oil, or finishing ingredients, so adjust those to the amount of pasta and your preferred sauce consistency.

What might it cost?

The May 23, 2025 article estimates the recipe at around $6 per person. Treat that as the article’s estimate, not a current or universal grocery cost: Trader Joe’s prices, package sizes, and local availability can vary, and current stock of the bisque and frozen langostino has not been established.

Ways to adapt the recipe

The article suggests shrimp or crab in place of langostino, using half a container of bisque with extra lemon for a lighter sauce, and adding spinach, basil, peas, asparagus, arugula, or tarragon. These are proposed variations, not tested comparisons, so add vegetables or herbs according to their cooking time and your taste.

What the source says about the recipe

Allrecipes contributor Nicole McLaughlin reacted to the idea with, “100 percent, that works,” and called it “a 10 out of 10 great idea.” Those are her quoted reactions in the article, rather than a published comparative test of recipes.
