Charlotte has the lowest displayed amount, about $92, but ranks sixth. These are forecast figures—not guaranteed prices or quotes for a particular route. Check current fares from your airport for your dates before you budget around them.
How to read the 2026 ranking
Dollar Flight Club published its forecast on December 8, 2025, and updated it on December 18, 2025. Its destination entries are labeled “Average price,” while its methodology describes ranking by “typical low price (the median of the lowest observed fares).” The report does not explain the difference between those terms, nor does it state the exact origins, fare-observation dates, ticket conditions, or route-level data behind each entry. Treat the amounts below as approximate figures published in the forecast—not as current bookable fares, round-trip prices, or prices available from every departure city. Read Dollar Flight Club’s 2026 forecast.
The ranking is also not a simple lowest-to-highest price list. Dollar Flight Club says it weighed deal frequency, gateway access, seasonal stability, and traveler value; flight frequency and airport ease help break ties. That explains why Charlotte’s lower displayed figure does not put it ahead of Fort Lauderdale.

The airport distinctions matter when comparing itineraries: Chicago’s listing includes both Midway (MDW) and O’Hare (ORD), Dallas includes Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Love Field (DAL), and the forecast lists Orlando International (MCO) separately from Orlando Sanford (SFB). The suggested windows are the forecast’s timing recommendations, not guarantees that those dates will be cheapest.
What the forecast says its ranking measures
Dollar Flight Club says it analyzed tens of thousands of data points, drawing on prior-year airfare trends, historical prices, live deals, its own alert data, partner feeds, and historical price curves. It says the analysis sought low all-in fares from major U.S. origins, then weighed the median of lowest observed fares and deal frequency alongside gateway access, seasonal stability, and traveler value. The report says it favors repeatable savings over one-off low-fare anomalies.

Its figures are useful as a shortlist of destinations to investigate; they do not establish what a traveler will pay for a specific itinerary.
How to look for a lower fare in 2026
Start with your dates and departure airport
Search the dates you can actually travel, then compare nearby departure airports if reaching them is practical. For Chicago and Dallas, compare the airport options listed above rather than assuming a citywide fare applies to both. For Orlando, compare MCO and SFB as separate itineraries, including the ground transportation that each would require.

Use timing suggestions as search windows
For a destination you are considering, begin with its suggested period in the table and compare nearby dates. Dollar Flight Club’s broader seasonal overview identifies September through November as a softer pricing period across many markets. It also advises booking earlier for some summer destinations. These are planning suggestions from the forecast, not independently established savings rules.
Compare flight times and fare structures
The forecast suggests checking midweek departures, red-eyes, and first-departure flights, as well as considering one-way tickets on separate itineraries (“one-way stitching”). These tactics may broaden the options you see, but the report does not quantify their savings. Compare the complete itinerary, including schedule, connection risk, baggage and other applicable fees, before choosing a fare.

Track changes rather than assuming a forecast price is available
Set a price alert or check fares periodically for your exact route and dates. Dollar Flight Club recommends its real-time alerts; fare-search services can also offer price-change alerts. Alerts can help you notice changes, but they do not guarantee a particular price or that a forecast amount will appear for your trip.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to use the list in a travel budget
Use the ranking to identify destinations worth checking, not to set a guaranteed airfare line item. A useful budget starts with a live search from your departure airport for dates you can travel, then accounts for the full itinerary and trip costs. The forecast’s approximate amounts do not specify a traveler’s origin or ticket conditions, so the only reliable price for your plan is one shown for that itinerary when you search.
