Tom Brady topped Forbes’ 2025 list of the highest-paid television hosts, with estimated pretax earnings of $37.5 million from television work. But the ranking is broader than talk shows: it also includes sports, food and lifestyle, courtroom and political television personalities. Here are the ten highest earners in Forbes’ ranking, with that scope in mind.

Why this is not a ranking of talk-show hosts alone
The title “highest-paid talk show hosts” suggests a list limited to presenters of talk shows. Forbes’ 2025 ranking instead covers television hosts across formats. Brady is a sports broadcaster; Fieri, Flay and Ramsay are associated with food and lifestyle programming; Sheindlin hosts a courtroom format; and Hannity and Maddow are political television presenters. Oliver is the clearest conventional late-night talk-show host among the top ten.

The figures can still answer a broader earnings question about prominent television hosts, but they should not be read as a like-for-like comparison of talk-show salaries.
What the earnings figures include—and leave out
Forbes describes its amounts as estimates of pretax earnings specifically for television work, based on estimates of total earnings paid by media companies to talent. Its reporting drew on interviews with agents, lawyers, managers, executives and industry experts. Representation fees are not deducted, and these figures are not audited salary disclosures.
The estimates may exclude income from radio, endorsements, businesses, personal appearances, investments and other work. A host’s total personal income can therefore differ substantially from the television-work estimate in the table.
Why television-host earnings are hard to compare
A headline figure may come from different arrangements rather than a single annual salary. Forbes points to Guy Fieri’s overall deal and Pat McAfee’s license-to-air arrangement as examples of distinct compensation structures. Ryan Seacrest’s radio work is another reminder that a media personality’s wider income portfolio is not the same thing as television earnings.

The Forbes estimates for the ten people above are intended to cover television work, but the underlying commercial arrangements need not be identical. Treating each amount as a comparable paycheck would obscure that difference.

Forbes estimated that its 25 highest-paid TV hosts earned $582 million combined in 2025. Its estimates for late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel were $16 million each, and Stephen Colbert’s was $15 million. Those figures sit below the top ten’s range and arrive amid reported budget pressure and contraction in late-night television.
Forbes quoted Neal Zuckerman, managing director and senior partner at Boston Consulting Group, on the economics behind those pressures: “There’s only so much you can spend on content in order to make a reasonably profitable business.”
