How much did the reported Model Y lease payment increase?
Notebookcheck reported in September 2025 that Tesla’s Model Y promotional starting payment would increase from $399 to $479 per month, a rise of $80. The same report said the Model 3 payment would move from $299 to $349 per month, a $50 increase. These are figures reported for that promotion, not independently confirmed lease terms or current prices. Notebookcheck’s September 2025 report is the source for the payment figures.

Notebookcheck reported September 21, 2025 as the order cutoff for customers seeking the $399 monthly promotion. That date is not a current offer deadline. The reported lease amount was a starting monthly payment, and the article does not give the full terms needed to calculate the total cost for an individual lease.
How did the lease deadline relate to the federal EV credit?
The promotion’s reported order cutoff and the federal credit’s deadline were separate milestones. Notebookcheck discussed delivery by September 30, 2025 in connection with the $7,500 federal consumer EV credit; the report alone does not establish that every customer who ordered or took delivery by a particular date qualified.

Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K says the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was enacted on July 4, 2025, and repealed individual consumer tax credits for electric vehicles. The former $7,500 credit should therefore not be treated as available under that program in October 2026. Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K also records that Tesla updated its website on September 19, 2025; that filing does not independently confirm the reported lease-payment schedule.
How to compare a current Model Y lease
The historical monthly payment cannot be compared fairly with a current offer without matching the vehicle, location, and lease terms. Tesla says prices and feature availability may change, and its site’s Oregon incentive example is conditional rather than a nationwide offer. Check the current offer and written terms for your transaction at Tesla’s website.
