Tesla entered India on July 15, 2025, opening its first showroom at Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and introducing the Model Y. Delhi’s Aerocity location, once reported as a plan, now appears alongside Mumbai on Tesla’s official India store listing. Tesla also lists locations in other Indian cities.
What happened at Tesla’s India launch?
Tesla opened its first Indian showroom at Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai’s BKC on July 15, 2025. The Indian Express reported that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik attended the opening. The Model Y was the first Tesla vehicle introduced in India, and the company planned to import it and sell it through its experience centers.
At the opening, Fadnavis said: “It is a statement that Tesla has arrived in the right city – one that is not just the financial and entertainment capital, but also the entrepreneurial capital of the country.”

The Indian Express reported Aerocity as the planned site for Tesla’s second showroom after Mumbai. Tesla’s current listing now names it as an Experience Center. The listing includes demo-drive scheduling links; check Tesla’s India store page for visit details and current arrangements.
Are these Tesla’s only locations in India?
No. Tesla’s current store listing also names a Tesla Centre at Orchid Business Park in Gurugram and Experience Centers in Chennai, Hyderabad, Noida, and Bengaluru. The listing establishes the locations Tesla currently names, but does not by itself establish each center’s opening date.

What did the Model Y cost at launch?
The Associated Press reported a launch-presentation base price of ₹6.78 million ($79,089) for the long-range, rear-wheel-drive Model Y. That is a historical launch figure, not a current price quote. AP also reported that deliveries were expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025; that was the expectation at launch, not confirmation of present delivery timing.
