Tesla’s U.S. offers result showed different rates when checked in 2026; buyers should confirm live terms before relying on any advertised payment.
What the 0.99% Model Y offer covered
Notebookcheck reported that Tesla’s U.S. promotion applied to eligible Model Y orders placed by May 31, 2024, with financing for up to 72 months. The article reported a down payment of 8–10%, or $4,336 on all variants. These are terms reported for that 2024 promotion, not current Tesla financing requirements. Notebookcheck’s May 2024 report is the source for the offer details and payment estimates.
Why the headline said the Model Y payment was below the Model 3
The reported figures compared estimated monthly payments, not the vehicles’ sticker prices or total cost of financing. Notebookcheck said the Long Range RWD Model Y payment was $602 per month before a then-available $7,500 federal tax credit, or $498 after applying the credit. It reported a best comparable Model 3 payment of $607 per month and said that Model 3 did not qualify for that federal program. The comparison therefore depended on the tax-credit assumption and did not establish that the Model Y had a lower cash price.
For the Model Y Performance AWD, Notebookcheck reported estimated payments of $695 per month before the incentive and $591 after it. These amounts are the publication’s 2024 reported estimates, not independently recalculated figures, guaranteed lender quotes, or current payment offers.

What Tesla’s U.S. offers showed in 2026
Tesla’s U.S. current-offers result showed different advertised rates when checked in 2026: 1.49% APR for specified Model Y trims and 1.99% APR for specified Model 3 trims, each for up to 72 months. Eligibility, order dates, and minimum down-payment requirements applied; Tesla also says rates and estimates can change and not all applicants qualify. The result does not establish a fully matched Model Y and Model 3 quote pair, so it should not be treated as a direct monthly-payment comparison. Check Tesla’s U.S. current offers for live trim eligibility, deadlines, fees, and down-payment terms before placing an order.
Why monthly payments alone are not a fair comparison
A payment estimate can change with the vehicle configuration, APR, loan term, down payment, fees, applicable tax credits, and borrower eligibility. A lower monthly amount does not by itself mean a lower purchase price or less paid overall; a longer term or a larger down payment can reduce the monthly figure while changing the total cost. Tax-credit eligibility and treatment also affect whether an advertised “after credit” figure describes a buyer’s actual financing.

For a useful comparison, use offers for the same country and region, order period, and vehicle configuration, then compare APR, loan duration, upfront cash, fees, and any final payment. Distinguish a lender quote from a promotional estimate, and treat any tax-credit adjustment as conditional on the buyer and vehicle qualifying.

Tesla China’s campaign, last updated October 1, 2026, describes separate financing options through October 31, 2026. It includes several structures for specified Model 3 and Model Y configurations, including qualifying one-to-five-year 0% offers and a five-year flexible loan with a 20% final payment and an annualized rate from 0.99%.
