Tesla’s March 2025 recall covers 46,096 potentially involved 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks because a stainless-steel panel in the roofline cantrail assembly may separate. That does not mean every truck in the recall population has the defect, or that the entire assembly is attached only with glue. Owners can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) and arrange Tesla’s free replacement if their truck is affected.
Which Cybertrucks are included?
The recall is NHTSA campaign 25V-170, also identified by Tesla as campaign SB-25-10-001. Tesla’s March 18, 2025 filing lists 46,096 potentially involved Cybertrucks built from November 13, 2023, through February 27, 2025. The group includes 2024 and 2025 model-year vehicles, but the filing estimates that 1% have the defect; that is Tesla’s estimate, not a confirmed failure rate. Check your VIN rather than assuming your truck is affected based on model year or build date.

What part is at risk, and why “just glued on” is misleading
The affected part is the exterior cantrail assembly, which runs along the roofline. Tesla’s recall filing describes it as an electrocoated steel stamping joined to a stainless-steel panel with structural adhesive; the assembly is also affixed to the vehicle with fasteners. The reported problem is that the stainless panel may delaminate at its adhesive joint and separate. That is different from saying the entire assembly is held on only by glue.
Tesla says the adhesive in the recalled component can be susceptible to environmental embrittlement. The replacement assembly uses a different structural adhesive described in the filing as not prone to that issue, plus a stud welded to the stainless panel and a nut that clamps it to the vehicle structure. Tesla’s NHTSA safety recall report describes the component and remedy.

What could happen if the panel loosens?
A panel that separates while the truck is moving could become a road hazard for following motorists and raise the risk of injury or a collision. Tesla says a delaminated panel may also produce noticeable cabin noise; owners may see it coming loose.
In its March 2025 filing, Tesla reported 151 potentially related warranty claims as of March 14, 2025, and said it was not aware of related collisions, fatalities, or injuries as of that date. Those are historical figures and statements from the filing, not a current tally.

What Tesla will do for affected owners
Tesla’s remedy is to replace the cantrail assembly at no charge. Its Cybertruck Cantrail Replacement support page estimates that replacement takes approximately one hour. Tesla says it will contact affected owners to schedule service when parts are available in their region. The page also says affected owners may continue driving; check your VIN and follow any direct service guidance for your vehicle.

No. Tesla’s separate 2024 recall involved the sail applique along the exterior of the trunk bed, not the cantrail roofline panel. The two campaigns concern different parts and failure modes.
