Tesla’s 2024 U.S. consumer lineup included five vehicles: Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck. For a dated price reference, on April 19, 2024, Tesla cut the U.S. starting prices of Model Y, Model S and Model X to $42,990, $72,990 and $77,990, respectively. Those are snapshot prices—not a complete price list for the year or an estimate of every buyer’s final cost.
What Tesla models were available in 2024?
Tesla’s 2024 Form 10-K names five consumer vehicles. Their body-style descriptions below are practical categories for comparing them:
- Model 3: sedan.
- Model Y: smaller SUV or crossover.
- Model S: premium sedan.
- Model X: premium SUV.
- Cybertruck: pickup.
Tesla’s 2024 Form 10-K identifies the five models. It does not make the body-style shorthand a formal classification.
How much did a Tesla cost in 2024?
A useful U.S. reference point is as of April 19, 2024. The Associated Press reported that Tesla had cut $2,000 from the U.S. prices of Model Y, Model S and Model X, leaving the following reported starting prices:
#1 Best Overall
- Boy's model toy car: The body is made of alloy material, with exquisite paint craftsmanship and good durability.
- Realistic alloy model car: The 1:32 interior decoration is realistic, with six doors that can be opened. The steering wheel and seats have simulated designs.
- Toy car with lights and music: Opening the car door can light up the lights and simulate the sound of an engine starting. It's a toy car that boys like.
- Companion to Decoration and Cake Decorations: It plays a great decorative role on display cabinets at home and is a great decoration for boys' birthday cake parties.
- Gift selection for toy cars for boys aged 3-12: This gift is suitable for children aged 3 and above and is a collectible for car enthusiasts.
| Model | Reported U.S. starting price after April 19, 2024 price cut |
|---|---|
| Model Y | $42,990 |
| Model S | $72,990 |
| Model X | $77,990 |
The Associated Press report said Model 3 and Cybertruck prices did not change in that announcement, but did not state their exact prices. That means this snapshot cannot establish which of all five models was cheapest at every point in 2024.
These are reported starting prices, not a full purchase quote. The final amount can differ with trim, options, destination fees, taxes, incentives, financing, and location. Tesla’s later annual filing said lower average selling prices in 2024 reflected, in part, overall price reductions and attractive financing options. That is another reason an undated price list can give a misleading impression of what a buyer would have paid.

Which Tesla was the cheapest?
The available dated figures establish that Model Y started at $42,990 in the United States after the April 19, 2024 cut. They do not establish a complete, same-date starting-price comparison across all five models: the AP report gives no exact Model 3 or Cybertruck price, and a full trim-by-trim 2024 timeline is not available here. So it would be too broad to name a definitive cheapest Tesla for the entire year from this snapshot alone.
For a real purchase comparison, check the same market and date, compare the same kind of price (such as starting price before fees), and account separately for incentives and financing. Do not treat estimated savings or an incentive claim as a vehicle’s sticker price.

How to compare Tesla models for your budget
Tesla’s comparison page highlights price, range, specifications and features as comparison dimensions. Use those alongside the practical needs that affect ownership:
- Vehicle type and space: Decide whether a sedan, crossover, premium sedan, premium SUV or pickup fits your passenger and cargo needs.
- Trim and performance: Compare specific trims rather than assuming a model name represents one fixed configuration or price.
- Range: Match the range figure to the exact trim and model year; a model-wide number may obscure differences.
- Charging: Consider where you can charge routinely and whether your home electrical setup can support the equipment you choose.
- Total purchase cost: Check options, fees, taxes, local incentives and financing terms for your location and transaction date.
Tesla’s comparison page is useful for current comparison categories, but current content should not be read as a historical record of 2024 prices or specifications.

Remember to budget for charging
The vehicle price is not the only ownership cost to plan for. Tesla’s current Model 3 page lists the Mobile Connector and Wall Connector as charging options. Before choosing equipment, verify connector compatibility, local electrical requirements and whether installation work is needed; the listed equipment does not establish what a particular home will require.
Tesla’s Model 3 page lists those charging options. Check availability and specifications for the vehicle and market you are considering.

What this 2024 price snapshot does—and does not—show
The April 19 figures are a dated U.S. snapshot for three models, not a complete record of Tesla prices across 2024. They do not establish exact prices for Model 3 or Cybertruck, a trim-by-trim price history, or prices outside the United States. Treat each figure as specific to its reported date and market, and verify the applicable price and purchase terms for any actual transaction.
