As of October 5, 2026, Tesla’s cited public materials do not confirm a consumer car called the Model 2 or a $25,000 price for one. Tesla has discussed an unnamed more affordable model and future vehicles based on aspects of its next-generation platform, but it has not supplied a Model 2 price, specifications, or launch date in the sources cited here.

Is the $25,000 Tesla Model 2 real?

Not as a confirmed consumer vehicle in the official materials cited here. The name “Model 2” and the $25,000 figure are not established as Tesla-announced details. Treat headlines or online claims using them as speculation unless Tesla publishes a specific vehicle name and consumer pricing.

That distinction matters for personal-finance decisions: without an identified car and verified price, there is no sound basis to estimate a monthly payment, compare ownership costs, or decide whether to wait before buying another vehicle.

What Tesla has said about an affordable model

In its Q2 2025 Quarterly Update Deck, Tesla wrote: “We continue to expand our vehicle offering, including first builds of a more affordable model in June, with volume production planned for the second half of 2025.” This was a statement of first builds and a production plan made in July 2025. It does not, by itself, establish that volume production occurred, that the vehicle was offered for sale, or that Tesla called it Model 2.

Tesla’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 discusses capacity for “newer vehicle models and future vehicles utilizing aspects of our next generation platform.” It also says future production growth will be supported by autonomy advances and new products, including those built on that platform. The filing does not identify a consumer Model 2, give a price or specifications, or provide a launch date for such a car.

Tesla’s investor-relations listing includes a Q3 2026 production and deliveries release dated October 2, 2026. That release reports aggregate production and deliveries, not a Model 2 announcement; the listing is not proof that no separate announcement exists elsewhere.

Is the Cybercab the $25,000 Tesla?

No such equivalence is established by the cited materials. Tesla’s Q2 2026 earnings materials report that Cybercab began production at Gigafactory Texas, but identify it as a separately named, purpose-built Robotaxi. Its production status does not confirm an ordinary consumer car called Model 2 or establish that Cybercab is available for personal purchase.

What a buyer cannot yet calculate

Because the cited materials provide no confirmed Model 2 price or specifications, a buyer cannot make a meaningful Model 2-specific comparison on:

  • Purchase price, financing payment, or expected resale value
  • Driving range, battery capacity, charging time, or charging access
  • Vehicle size, equipment, safety features, or warranty
  • Insurance, maintenance, energy costs, or total cost of ownership

Any numerical comparison with the Model 3, Model Y, or another car would require inventing Model 2 details. Likewise, no tax credit or other incentive can be assumed: eligibility depends on the vehicle, date, location, and buyer circumstances, and the cited materials do not establish a current eligibility claim.

How to assess a future announcement before budgeting

  1. Confirm identity and availability. Look for a Tesla announcement that names the vehicle and states whether customers can order or buy it, rather than a platform reference or production plan.
  2. Check the price for your market. Use the listed local price and clarify what it includes; do not treat an old target or an unsourced dollar figure as an offer.
  3. Compare the full ownership picture. Once official specifications and local pricing exist, compare range, charging, equipment, warranty, insurance, energy, maintenance, and resale assumptions on the same basis as other vehicles.
  4. Verify incentives separately. Check current rules for your location, vehicle, purchase date, and circumstances rather than subtracting an assumed credit from a headline price.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
