Tesla Diner is a real West Hollywood restaurant and charging stop, but the opening-day spectacle is not a reliable guide to what you will find today. Early reporting described a broad menu that was quickly reduced and mixed reactions to the food; Tesla’s current visitor page confirms the venue and its services but does not publish an itemized menu. Whether it is worth a trip depends more on your interest in the Tesla experience or need to charge than on a proven restaurant track record.
Where is Tesla Diner, and what is it?
Tesla Diner is at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90038. Tesla describes the site as a diner, Supercharging station, and drive-in theater. Its current support page lists 80 V4 Supercharger stalls and two 20-meter LED screens. Tesla’s visitor information is the authority for current address and logistics.
The concept brings together ground-floor dining, rooftop “Skypad” seating, car-side food service in a Tesla, ordering through a Tesla vehicle touchscreen, and outdoor screens. Tesla says visitors do not need to own a Tesla to dine or watch from outdoor or Skypad seating. There are no movie tickets, but Tesla says guests must be actively charging or dining to remain and watch.
Is Tesla Diner worth visiting?
It may be worthwhile if the Tesla-branded setting, giant screens, or a charging stop are themselves part of the appeal. As a restaurant recommendation based on food and value, the evidence is much less persuasive: early reviews were mixed, and the current menu, prices, portions, and service performance are not established by the available current information.

There is no independently measured satisfaction score, food-quality statistic, or present-day visitor-volume figure in the cited reporting. Tesla’s claim that the diner had sold 50,000 burgers by October 2025 was reported by The Guardian in January 2026; it is a company-reported total, not an independently audited sales figure or a current sales rate.
What was on the opening menu—and what changed?
Eater LA reported that Tesla Diner opened on July 21, 2025, with sandwiches, hot dogs, all-day breakfast, sides, children’s items, desserts, coffee, tea, and sodas. Reported dishes included a Tesla Burger, club sandwich, tuna melt, fried chicken and waffles, grilled cheese, fries, and Wagyu chili. Lead operator Bill Chait said Elon Musk wanted every menu item to be “epic.”

That opening list is historical, not a current menu. On August 6, 2025, Eater reported that most opening options had been removed within the first two weeks. The New York Times’ Tejal Rao, as relayed in Eater’s follow-up, said the burger “didn’t stand out in any meaningful way.” That is one critic’s early assessment, not a verdict on every dish or the menu as it stands now. Check Tesla’s visitor page before you go; it does not establish the current itemized menu.
Is Tesla Diner open to non-Tesla drivers, and can you charge and eat there?
Yes. Tesla says the restaurant and outdoor/Skypad viewing areas are open to people who do not own a Tesla. Charging is also available to non-Tesla vehicles that are NACS-enabled and used with an adapter. The site’s 80 V4 Supercharger stalls are listed on Tesla’s current support page.

Tesla says the public can visit seven days a week from 6 a.m. to midnight, while orders from Tesla vehicles are possible 24/7. The company warns that hours can change, so confirm the visitor page on the day of your visit rather than assuming vehicle-order availability means the restaurant is open overnight.
How to get there and plan your visit
- Charging: Tesla directs arriving drivers to the entrances on N Orange Drive or N Sycamore Avenue.
- Walk-in visit: Use the Santa Monica Boulevard entrance.
- Rideshare drop-off: Tesla directs rideshare drivers to N Orange Drive.
- Parking: Venue parking is for EV charging. If you are not charging, Tesla directs you to nearby street parking or garages.
- Screen viewing: No ticket is required, but Tesla says you must be dining or actively charging to stay and watch.
What happened to the project after opening?
The opening combined restaurant, charging, and entertainment in an unusually elaborate package, but early menu changes and mixed dish reviews made the food offer less clear than the concept. In November 2025, the Los Angeles Times reported that chef Eric Greenspan had left the project to focus on opening Mish, his planned Jewish deli. The paper also reported that an employee said staff had heard the diner would become a full-service restaurant by January; that was a reported plan, not confirmation that the change occurred.

In January 2026, The Guardian described less attention and smaller crowds than during the opening period and reported that Tesla had not formally announced expansion plans at that time. Those observations are dated; they do not establish current crowds or later company plans. The sources available here also do not verify that the reported full-service conversion was completed.
