A Tesla dealership in Tigard, Oregon, was shot at twice in March 2025, and local police said the FBI and ATF were assisting investigators. The first shooting, on March 6, damaged three cars and dealership windows; no one was hurt. Police had not confirmed a motive in their initial account.
What happened at the Tigard Tesla dealership on March 6?
Surveillance video placed the gunfire at about 1:46 a.m., when the dealership was unoccupied, according to the Associated Press. Tigard police said investigators believed at least seven shots were fired. Three cars were damaged, windows were shattered, and a bullet passed through an office wall and into a computer monitor. No injuries were reported. Tigard is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) southwest of Portland. AP’s March 7 report recounted the initial incident.
Why was the dealership targeted?
Police had not confirmed a motive in the initial reporting. A Tigard police spokeswoman told AP: “While the motivation for this has not been confirmed, we are aware that other Tesla dealerships have been targeted across Oregon and the nation for political reasons.” That statement gives broader context; it does not establish that political motivation caused the Tigard shooting. Willamette Week’s March 10 coverage also reported the local police statement.
Was the FBI investigating?
Yes. Tigard police said they were working with federal partners, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), on what they described as a “thorough and broad-scope investigation.” AP reported that police had no suspect description at the time of its March 7 account.

Was there another shooting at the same dealership?
Yes. AP reported that more than a dozen shots were fired at the Tigard dealership around 4:15 a.m. on March 13. Police reported extensive damage to vehicles and showroom windows, but no injuries. They said FBI and ATF partners continued to assist. AP’s March 13 report covers the second shooting.
How is this different from the Salem Tesla attack?
The Tigard shootings should not be confused with a separate attack on Tesla property in Salem. In a March 20, 2025 announcement, the U.S. Department of Justice described charges against three people for attacks on Tesla property in multiple states. It said one defendant, armed with a suppressed AR-15 rifle, was arrested after throwing approximately eight Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership in Salem. Those charges concern Salem; they do not report an arrest or resolution in the Tigard shootings. The DOJ announcement identifies the Salem case separately.

What is known about the Tigard case’s outcome?
The cited reports establish the shootings, the police and federal-agency involvement reported at the time, and the absence of a confirmed motive in the initial account. They do not establish a later arrest, charging decision, or closure for the Tigard shootings. The DOJ’s Salem announcement is not evidence of the Tigard case’s disposition.
