What changed in July 2025?
Tesla Canada’s configurator listed the Model Y Long Range AWD at CAD 64,990 on July 10, 2025, after a reduction from CAD 84,990. The contemporaneous report put the earlier pre-tariff price at CAD 69,990, making the July listing CAD 5,000 lower than that reported level. Drive Tesla’s July 10, 2025 report covered the change and trim; electrive’s report the following day provided additional context.

The Car Guide described the cut as 23.5% of the previous CAD 84,990 listing; that percentage is the publication’s calculation. It also reported that Diamond Black paint was an optional CAD 2,000 at the time. Neither figure should be treated as a current price or option charge. The Car Guide’s July 2025 coverage gives that context.
Why did Tesla lower the price?
The reduction followed a tariff-related increase in the spring of 2025, bringing the reported listing below its stated pre-tariff price. Contemporary coverage noted that other Tesla vehicle lines did not receive the same reduction and that the Model Y had a longer-than-usual estimated delivery window.

Drive Tesla and electrive inferred from the price and delivery clues that Canadian Model Ys might be coming from Giga Berlin rather than U.S. factories. That was an inference, not a confirmed Tesla announcement in the cited coverage. The available reports do not establish a definitive production-source change.
What does a Model Y cost in Canada now?
The July 2025 CAD 64,990 figure is historical and does not establish today’s price for the same configuration. On Tesla Canada’s incentives page, accessed October 8, 2026, the listed MSRP was CAD 49,990 for Model Y RWD and CAD 64,990 for Model Y Premium AWD. Those are current page figures for differently labelled trims; they do not establish a like-for-like current price for the Long Range AWD configuration in the 2025 story. Compare the same trim and drivetrain, province, included options, delivery estimate, and price basis. Tesla distinguishes MSRP from the online store’s all-in price: delivery-related and other fees may be included in online pricing but excluded from the MSRP table. A headline MSRP therefore may not match the amount due.

Tesla’s incentives page says the federal EV Affordability Program may provide up to CAD 5,000 for eligible individual purchases, leases, or financing when the total transaction price is below CAD 50,000 before specified fees. Eligibility, funding, and program terms can change; confirm the current rules and the specific vehicle’s eligibility before relying on the amount.

The same page lists up to CAD 2,000 in Quebec provincial assistance for eligible vehicles with a base MSRP under CAD 65,000, subject to current program terms and available funds. Tesla says this assistance may be combined with EVAP only when the vehicle’s base MSRP is below CAD 50,000. A historical configuration—or a current Model Y—does not qualify automatically.
