Verdict: TenkoFX should be treated as a high-risk, unregulated or weakly regulated offshore forex broker unless you can independently confirm a current licence for the exact legal entity operating your account. That is not the same as proving that TenkoFX is a scam, but it means UK traders do not get the protections they would expect from an FCA-authorised broker.
The important distinction is between the TenkoFX brand, the company named in its terms, and the regulator—if any—that supervises that company. A familiar-looking website, trading platform or registration document does not provide the same protection as authorisation from the FCA, ASIC, CySEC or another established financial regulator.
What is TenkoFX?
TenkoFX presents itself as an online forex and CFD broker. These products are leveraged derivatives: you speculate on price movements rather than owning the underlying currency, index, share or commodity. Losses can happen quickly, and the broker controls important parts of the trading process, including account approval, deposits, withdrawals, margin rules and execution.
That makes the broker’s legal identity more important than its advertised spreads or list of instruments. Before sending money, find the exact company name, incorporation country, registered address, licence number and regulator. If those details are missing, contradictory or difficult to verify, do not treat the broker as regulated.

Is TenkoFX regulated?
There is no good reason to assume that TenkoFX is protected by UK financial regulation merely because it accepts UK visitors or offers MetaTrader-style trading. A broker must be authorised for the activity it carries out, and the authorisation must belong to the exact legal entity dealing with your money.
Check the following registers yourself:
- FCA Financial Services Register: search the legal company name, brand name and domain. Confirm that the firm has permission for dealing in investments as principal or the equivalent CFD/forex activity.
- FCA Warning List: search for TenkoFX, its website, telephone numbers and the company name in its terms.
- The claimed offshore regulator: if TenkoFX cites an overseas authority, go to that regulator’s own website rather than using a link supplied by the broker.
- Clone-firm details: compare the regulator’s telephone number, website, address and licence status with the information given by the broker. Scammers frequently copy the details of genuine firms.
A company registration is not a broker licence. An offshore business can be incorporated legally while lacking the prudential supervision, conduct rules and compensation arrangements associated with a major financial regulator.
Why the regulatory gap matters
With an FCA-authorised CFD broker, UK rules generally include restrictions on leverage, mandatory risk warnings, rules around client money and access to formal complaint and compensation mechanisms where applicable. An offshore broker may not provide equivalent safeguards.
In particular, do not assume that any of the following applies to a TenkoFX account:
Rank #2
- Language: english
- Book - trading: technical analysis masterclass: master the financial markets
- It is made up of premium quality material.
- Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection.
- Negative-balance protection.
- Segregation of client money to UK standards.
- Access to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
- A guaranteed refund if the broker stops responding.
Even when a broker says that client funds are held separately, that claim is only useful if an identifiable regulator audits and enforces it. Segregation also does not protect you from trading losses or guarantee that a withdrawal will be processed promptly.
Red flags to check before opening an account
| Warning sign | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Unsolicited contact by phone, Telegram, WhatsApp or social media | Regulated firms do not normally use pressure-based approaches to recruit retail CFD clients. |
| Guaranteed profits or “risk-free” forex signals | Forex and CFDs are inherently risky. Guaranteed returns are a classic fraud indicator. |
| Requests to pay tax, insurance or a release fee before withdrawal | This is a common advance-fee tactic. Do not send more money to recover an account balance. |
| Payment to a personal bank account, crypto wallet or unrelated company | The payment recipient may not be the broker’s legal entity. |
| Pressure to increase the deposit or use remote-access software | Remote access can expose banking credentials and allow the caller to control your device. |
| Only cryptocurrency deposits | Crypto transfers are usually difficult to reverse and provide fewer practical recovery options. |
| Withdrawal conditions that appear after depositing | Complicated turnover rules, bonus requirements or unexplained verification demands can be used to block withdrawals. |
| Anonymous or inconsistent ownership information | You cannot properly assess who is holding your money or where to complain. |
How to test a broker safely
If you are still considering TenkoFX, do not begin with a large deposit. Use this process instead:
- Save screenshots and PDFs of the homepage, legal documents, fees, withdrawal rules and risk disclosure.
- Identify the legal entity in the account agreement—not just the TenkoFX trading name.
- Check that entity independently on the relevant regulator’s website.
- Confirm that the website domain, email address and telephone number match the regulator’s record.
- Read the withdrawal policy, including minimum turnover, bonus restrictions, identity checks and processing times.
- Use a small amount that you can afford to lose, and do not accept a bonus that creates withdrawal conditions.
- Attempt a small withdrawal before increasing the balance.
- Keep deposit confirmations, transaction IDs, chat logs and statements.
This process cannot make an unregulated broker safe. It only reduces the amount exposed while you establish whether the broker behaves as advertised.
Trading costs and execution risks
Low advertised spreads are not enough to establish that a broker is trustworthy. Your real cost may include spread mark-ups, commissions, overnight financing, currency conversion, inactivity fees and withdrawal charges. Read the broker’s fee schedule and compare the quoted spread with independent market prices during normal and volatile conditions.

CFD and forex orders can also be rejected, requoted, partially filled or closed when margin requirements change. Stop-loss orders do not necessarily guarantee the exact exit price during a fast market. These are normal trading risks, but with a weakly supervised broker you may have limited ability to challenge an execution dispute.
Never allow a representative to trade for you simply because they claim to be a “senior account manager”. Do not share your platform password, banking login, one-time passcodes or screen access.
What to do if TenkoFX refuses a withdrawal
- Stop depositing and do not pay a supposed tax, release charge or recovery fee.
- Submit a written withdrawal request and keep proof of the date, amount and destination account.
- Ask for the precise contractual clause supporting any refusal.
- Contact your bank or card provider immediately. Ask whether a card dispute, transfer recall or fraud report is possible.
- Report the matter to the FCA and Action Fraud if you are in the UK. If cryptocurrency was used, notify the exchange that sent the funds.
- Change passwords, enable two-factor authentication and remove any remote-access software.
- Be wary of “recovery agents” who contact you after the initial loss and demand an upfront payment.
Speed matters. Banks and card providers may have internal deadlines, and crypto transactions can be difficult or impossible to reverse once confirmed.
TenkoFX: legitimate broker or scam?
The fairest conclusion is that TenkoFX should not be treated as a safe, mainstream broker for UK retail traders unless its current authorisation can be verified independently. A lack of clearly verifiable top-tier regulation is a serious risk factor, even if the website works, the platform displays prices or some customers report successful withdrawals.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThat evidence does not by itself prove criminal fraud. A broker can be poorly regulated, offshore and unsuitable without every transaction being fraudulent. However, customers normally discover the practical difference only when a withdrawal is delayed or a trading dispute arises. The absence of strong regulatory protection makes that risk unacceptable for many investors.
Safer alternatives for UK traders
Before opening a forex or CFD account, compare brokers listed on the FCA Register and verify the firm through the register—not through an advert or an affiliate review. Check the firm’s permissions, trading name, warnings, complaint route and whether it serves retail clients. For long-term investing, a regulated investment platform offering shares or funds may be more appropriate than a leveraged CFD account.
Remember that FCA authorisation does not eliminate market risk or guarantee profits. It does, however, give you a clearer legal entity, conduct requirements and potential routes for complaint and compensation than an unverified offshore operation.

Is TenkoFX authorised by the FCA?
Do not assume that it is. Search the FCA Financial Services Register for the exact legal entity, website and contact details shown in TenkoFX’s terms. If the firm does not appear with appropriate permissions, it is not an FCA-authorised broker for UK retail trading.

Is TenkoFX definitely a scam?
The available warning signs justify treating TenkoFX as high risk, but a lack of strong regulation alone does not prove criminal fraud. The practical conclusion is to avoid depositing unless the operating entity and its current authorisation can be independently verified.
Can I get FSCS compensation from TenkoFX?
Do not rely on FSCS protection. Compensation depends on the authorised entity, service and circumstances of a failure. An offshore or unauthorised broker normally does not give you the protection associated with an FCA-regulated firm.
What should I do if someone claiming to be TenkoFX asks for more money?
Stop communicating about further deposits, especially if the payment is described as tax, insurance, verification or a withdrawal-release fee. Contact your bank or card provider immediately and report suspected fraud to the FCA and Action Fraud.
Are forex profits guaranteed with TenkoFX?
No legitimate broker can guarantee profits from forex or CFDs. Any promise of fixed returns, risk-free trading or guaranteed withdrawals should be treated as a major fraud warning.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: TenkoFX is not a broker that UK traders should trust without independently verified, current regulatory authorisation for the exact company handling their funds. The brand may offer a functioning trading service, but that does not establish safety. Avoid unsolicited approaches, guaranteed-return claims, crypto-only deposits and any demand for extra money before withdrawal. If you have already deposited, stop sending funds and contact your bank or card provider promptly.
