In a May 2, 2025 report, MobileSyrup said TELUS raised the listed prices of three bring-your-own-phone (BYOP) plans and offered new customers a $5 monthly credit for two years on eligible plans. The credit brought two options close to their previous prices; the 250GB plan still cost $5 more per month than before after the credit. These are historical prices, not a current TELUS offer listing.
What prices did TELUS list in May 2025?
MobileSyrup reported the following monthly plan prices on May 2, 2025. Its comparison covered the listed BYOP prices and the earlier prices it reported for those plans.

All prices, allowances, coverage and speed caps in the table are those reported by MobileSyrup for May 2025, not verified current TELUS terms. The credit column shows the arithmetic if the reported $5 monthly credit applied; eligibility was limited to new customers on eligible plans, as described in the report. Did the $5 credit offset the increases?
For the 100GB plan, the reported $70 BYOP price minus the credit was $65 per month, $10 above its former $55 price. For the 175GB Canada/U.S. plan, $80 minus the credit was $75, matching the former price, although the allowance had risen from 150GB to 175GB. MobileSyrup characterized the post-credit prices of the first two options as similar to their prior prices.

The 250GB Canada/U.S./Mexico plan was different: its reported $100 price became $95 after the credit, still $5 above its previous $90 price. The report did not establish whether the credit was available to every new customer or on every plan; it specified eligible plans.
How did financing a phone change the reported prices?
MobileSyrup also reported monthly plan prices for customers financing a phone through TELUS: $80, $90 and $110 for the corresponding 100GB, 175GB and 250GB options. Each was $10 per month above its matching BYOP plan price.

TELUS currently describes Easy Payment as a 24-month device payment arrangement and says the monthly rate plan is charged in addition to the device payment. That billing distinction helps explain why BYOP and financed-phone plan prices were listed separately in the 2025 report, but TELUS’s current page does not independently verify those historical prices. The May 2025 report is historical and does not establish that the credit remains available today. TELUS’s current deals page describes a separate five-year rate-lock offer for eligible postpaid mobility plans. TELUS says the lock applies to the monthly charge before taxes, government-imposed fees, discounts, promotions and bill credits; it may end after a plan change or renewal, or if eligibility ends. That rate lock is not confirmation that the earlier $5 monthly credit is still offered.

Anyone considering TELUS service should check the current plan terms and any credit’s eligibility and duration directly before switching. Do not treat the 2025 allowances, prices or promotional terms above as a current quote.
