TCS NQT 2026 pattern and time allocation
TCS describes one integrated test with Foundation and Advanced sections. The times below are TCS’s published allocations for this hiring drive, not estimates of how long preparation should take.

The Foundation section totals 75 minutes; Advanced totals 115 minutes. TCS says Advanced is mandatory for candidates aspiring to Prime or Digital offers. The hiring page does not establish exact question counts, a complete topic-by-topic syllabus, a marking scheme, a negative-marking policy, or a complete set of sample questions. Do not treat third-party topic lists or recalled questions as official specifications.
How to use this preparation sheet
Build practice across all five components in the published pattern. Give Advanced Coding substantial practice time because it has the longest single allocation—90 minutes. That is a planning choice based on the published time, not a claim that the section is more difficult or carries more marks.

- Set up a tracker. Create one row for each component in the pattern table. Record the date, practice source, time spent, and what you need to revisit.
- Label every practice item. Mark it as a publisher’s sample, an independently written exercise, or a candidate-recalled question. Do not label third-party material as official, leaked, or certain to appear unless TCS itself identifies it that way.
- Practice to the section clock. Use the listed section duration as a time-management constraint. For Foundation, track each 25-minute ability area separately; for Advanced, distinguish the 25-minute quantitative and reasoning component from the 90-minute coding component.
- Review errors, not just totals. Note whether an error came from understanding, calculation, reading, reasoning, implementation, or time management, then use that diagnosis to choose the next practice task.
Aptitude, verbal and reasoning practice
Numerical Ability
Reserve a dedicated 25-minute practice block for numerical questions. Since the official page does not publish a complete topic list or sample set, choose materials that clearly identify their source and do not assume a particular question type will appear. Track accuracy and whether you completed the work within the block.
Verbal Ability
Practice verbal questions in a separate 25-minute block so your tracker reflects the same component structure TCS publishes. When using a book, website, or recalled item, keep its source label visible; the hiring page does not validate a third-party verbal question as an official example.
Reasoning Ability
Use another 25-minute block for Reasoning Ability. Record the question source and the point at which you lost time or made an error. TCS lists the component and its duration but does not specify a complete topic-by-topic syllabus on the cited page.
Advanced quantitative, reasoning and coding practice
Advanced Quantitative & Reasoning Ability
This Advanced component has a 25-minute allocation. Practice it as its own timed block rather than combining it with Foundation Reasoning in your tracker; TCS lists them as separate components.
Advanced Coding
TCS allocates 90 minutes to Advanced Coding. Practice programming fundamentals and problems in the language you intend to use, while checking that your selected practice materials actually support that language. The hiring page reviewed here does not name required languages, algorithms, or specific coding questions, so treat any such material as practice rather than a prediction of the test.
For each coding exercise, capture the prompt source, language, time spent, whether the solution worked on the cases you tried, and what you would improve. Avoid relying only on memorized solutions: practice reading requirements and turning them into a working implementation under a clock.

TCS lists this drive for eligible 2024, 2025, and 2026 graduates in specified full-time engineering, MCA, and MSc/MS qualifications from recognized institutions. Its criteria include at least 60% aggregate (or equivalent CGPA) across applicable academic stages and no pending backlogs at the selection stage, alongside other conditions concerning course duration, education gaps, and age. Eligibility is checked during the hiring process; meeting minimum criteria alone does not guarantee selection. Check the official page for the full criteria and your circumstances.
The page gives registration dates of 18 February to 20 March 2026 and says test dates begin 10 March 2026 onward. As of 27 September 2026, it marks registration closed. TCS’s application instructions direct candidates to the TCS NextStep portal: create or use an IT-category profile and complete the “Apply for Drive” step. Candidates select preferred test centers, while the actual center depends on availability. The stated test mode is in-centre at TCS iON Centers, and TCS says test-related communication comes through its official partner TCS iON.

Use official recruitment channels
TCS warns that it does not ask candidates to deposit money for employment offers and cautions against hiring communications from unofficial email providers. Use the official portal and the contact route TCS publishes for current recruitment assistance rather than relying on unsolicited messages.
