No new Republic Records/Universal Music Group recording deal is established by the available announcements. UMG announced Taylor Swift’s multi-year, multi-album recording agreement on November 19, 2018. A later statement from Swift about buying back her music concerns ownership of her catalog, not a newly announced 2026 contract.

The announcement was about recorded music. It did not publish enough detail to calculate the deal’s value or specify how long it lasted. UMG’s release quoted then-chairman and CEO Sir Lucian Grainge describing Swift’s combination of global hits and creative work, and Republic founder and CEO Monte Lipman welcoming the alliance. Master ownership and Spotify-share proceeds
Swift’s public comments on the deal included two points reported at the time by Official Charts: she would own the master recordings of music made under the new contract, and a sale of UMG or Republic’s Spotify shares would result in a non-recoupable distribution to their artists. These were reported points from Swift’s announcement; UMG’s press release did not provide detailed contract terms.

How the recording deal differs from the 2020 publishing agreement
Recording and publishing rights are distinct. A recording agreement covers recorded music and its masters; a publishing agreement concerns musical compositions and related publishing rights. On February 6, 2020, UMG announced a separate exclusive global publishing agreement between Swift and Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG). The publishing announcement also described UMG as her exclusive worldwide recorded-music partner and Republic as her U.S. label partner at that time.
What Swift’s later catalog-ownership statement means
In a later letter on her official website, Swift wrote, “All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me,” and said she had bought back her music. She also named music videos, concert films, album art, photography, and unreleased songs. She thanked Shamrock Capital for offering her the opportunity and said fan support helped her buy back the music.

- "Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person
That is an ownership update, not evidence of a fresh Republic/UMG recording contract. Swift also described limits on her re-recording work: she wrote that she “haven’t even re-recorded a quarter” of Reputation and that she had completely re-recorded her debut album. She framed possible future releases from those projects as possibilities, not dated or confirmed release announcements. Her letter
