It was announced for Taco Bell Rewards members aged 21 and over, and the official event site lists its passes and memberships as sold out.
What was The Cantinas?
Taco Bell presented The Cantinas as a senior-inspired getaway combining recreation, dining, retail and overnight accommodation. The retro-styled event was designed around an early-retirement conceit: participants could take part in leisure activities, have early dinners and settle in for an 8 p.m. bedtime. Taco Bell’s launch announcement described the gathering as a place for fans to spend time together, rather than a residential development.

At launch, Taylor Montgomery, then Taco Bell’s U.S. chief marketing officer, said: “The Cantinas early retirement community, just like our brand, represents a place where all generations can come together, regardless of age, to Live their Más however they want.” The phrase “early retirement community” was the event’s theme, not a description of housing people could move into.
Where and when did it take place?
The event was scheduled for August 17–18, 2024, in San Diego, California, for guests aged 21 and over. It was a limited weekend experience, not a continuing program. The official Cantinas site lists access as sold out; the sources do not establish that the event is currently operating or bookable.

What did passes cost, and what did they include?
Taco Bell announced two access options for Rewards members. Both listed prices included the ticket holder and a guest; the weekend option also included overnight accommodation. These were the announced prices for the 2024 event, not current offers.

Taco Bell said memberships sold out in under three minutes in its event preview. The official event site subsequently listed the options as sold out. The sellout-time figure is Taco Bell’s own report, not an independently audited sales record.

What activities were advertised?
The two-day program mixed familiar recreation with crafts and themed entertainment. Taco Bell’s preview advertised:
- A Hot Sauce Walk, aerobics, golf, pickleball, croquet and pool time
- Crochet and jewelry-making activities
- Sound baths and bingo
- Early dinners and an 8 p.m. bedtime as part of the early-retirement theme
Retirement House, Joey Zauzig and Terri Joe were named as hosts. Taco Bell also mentioned an exclusive pickleball-set giveaway; it did not identify a make or model or establish that the set was sold as regular merchandise.

How many people attended?
After the event, Taco Bell said that hundreds of fans from more than 20 states gathered in San Diego. That attendance and geographic reach are Taco Bell’s reported figures in its post-event account; the source does not provide an independent attendance audit.
