T-Mobile’s reported free voice-line offer was a targeted promotion seen by some customers in September 2025—not a deal available to everyone, and not one readers should assume is still active. The reported terms included a one-time $10 device connection charge, taxes and fees, a bring-your-own-device requirement, and restrictions on other promotions. Before accepting any current offer, confirm its terms on your account and make sure the recurring credit appears.
What was the T-Mobile free-line promotion?
On September 23, 2025, Android Authority reported that some existing T-Mobile customers had received messages offering a free voice line. The account-specific offer was described through customer emails, texts, screenshots, and Reddit reports; no broadly available public terms page for that specific promotion was identified. It is best understood as a targeted, reported offer—not a universal T-Mobile promotion.
Customers reported seeing the offer on some ONE, Go5G, Go5G Plus, and legacy Sprint Unlimited Freedom accounts. That does not mean every subscriber on those plans qualified. Reports described inconsistent eligibility even among customers with the same plan.
What did “free” mean—and what were the catches?
- One-time charge: Customers reported a $10 device connection charge.
- Taxes and fees: These could still apply even when a credit offset the recurring voice-line charge.
- Bring your own device: The reported offer required a compatible device the customer already owned.
- Device-promotion limits: Customers said the line could not be used for device financing, a free-phone offer, an upgrade, or another device promotion. These were reported terms for this specific offer, not a rule that necessarily applies to every T-Mobile free-line promotion.
- Possible first-bill charges: Prorated service charges may appear during the first billing period. T-Mobile says promotional credits can take up to two full bill cycles to begin.
In practical terms, “free” referred to the recurring service charge being offset by a promotional credit if the account met the offer’s conditions. It did not necessarily mean zero cost.

Who appeared to qualify?
Eligibility was targeted, and the plan name alone was not enough to establish it. Customer reports suggested that having two existing free lines or recently receiving another free-line promotion could make an account less likely to qualify. Some reports also said that customers who had cancelled lines within the prior 90 days might need to reactivate them, and that some Price Lock customers were excluded. These are reported account experiences, not confirmed universal eligibility rules.
At least one customer reportedly received conflicting answers from chat and phone support. If one representative says the account does not qualify, ask whether another team can verify the specific offer on the account; do not treat either a verbal denial or approval as final proof of the terms.

Could the free line replace a paid line?
According to the September 2025 reports, no: the promotion required adding a new line rather than converting an existing paid line. Customers were warned that cancelling a paid line within the first year could cause the free-line benefit to disappear or make the added line chargeable.
Do not assume that cancelling a paid line becomes safe after one year. The exact written terms for an offer control, and requirements may differ. Before cancelling, porting out, or changing a line, ask T-Mobile to confirm in writing how that action affects the promotion.

How to check whether your account has an offer
- Check T-Life and My T-Mobile for an offer associated with your account, then review recent T-Mobile texts and emails. A general public add-a-line offer is not proof that you have the targeted free-line promotion.
- Contact T-Mobile support or visit a store and ask whether your account has a targeted free voice-line offer. Customer reports referred to checking account “segments,” but that wording is not a guaranteed customer-facing menu or process.
- Ask for the offer name or promotion code, qualifying plan and required paid-line count, retention period, taxes and fees, device requirements, and whether financing or upgrades are restricted.
- Request the terms in writing or save the chat transcript and screenshots. If a representative cannot provide the specific offer details, wait before accepting or activating a line.
How to confirm the line is actually receiving the credit
Customer reports described waiting to activate the SIM until the account showed the line and the associated promotion. This is a practical precaution, not a guarantee from T-Mobile. If possible, ask for a physical SIM and do not insert or activate it until you have checked the account.
- Confirm in My T-Mobile or T-Life that the new line is listed and that the expected promotional discount is attached.
- Review your bill for the recurring service charge and credit. T-Mobile says credits can take up to two full bill cycles to appear, so check the following bills as well.
- If the credit is missing, contact T-Mobile before using the line and keep a record of the offer and your conversation.
- If a line was added by mistake, ask whether it can be cancelled or “not installed” before network activation, and request correction of any charges. Do not assume that an unactivated SIM automatically prevents billing.
What can cause a promotional credit to stop?
T-Mobile’s promotional-credit guidance says credits may end if required service, a qualifying line, or a required plan is cancelled or changed. That can matter if you cancel the new line, cancel another paid line, change plans, close the account, or port a number away. For the September 2025 offer, the one-year paid-line restriction came from customer reports; confirm the precise retention terms for your account rather than relying on that reported period.

Ask about any planned plan migration, number port, or SIM-to-eSIM change before making it. A discount that depends on a particular plan or account configuration may not survive a change.

Is the 2025 offer available now?
As of August 18, 2026, T-Mobile’s public offers page and promotion details show offers such as device promotions tied to new lines, qualifying plans, trade-ins, and bill credits. Those deals are not automatically the same as the targeted free voice-line promotion reported in September 2025. The available information does not establish that the 2025 offer remains active; treat it as historical unless a current offer appears on your account or in a current written message from T-Mobile.
