The aircraft began with short European passenger flights for crew familiarization before its planned first long-haul route to Boston. Its new cabin concept, SWISS Senses, brings redesigned First and Business seats and updated features across the cabin. Routes and aircraft assignments can change, so check SWISS’s current schedule before booking.
When did SWISS get its first A350?
The aircraft arrived at Zurich from Airbus’s Toulouse facility on 9 October 2025. Airbus announced the delivery on 10 October, saying it was the first of ten A350-900s for SWISS. The airline named the aircraft Lausanne and registered it HB-IFA. SWISS said the A350 uses around 25% less fuel than predecessor aircraft types; Airbus separately attributes a 25% advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and CO₂ emissions versus previous-generation competitor aircraft. These are claims from the companies, not independent measurements.
The delivery was a milestone for SWISS, but it did not mean the aircraft immediately began long-haul service. The airline first used it on European routes as pilots completed conversion training.
What was the first SWISS A350 passenger flight?
HB-IFA’s first revenue passenger service was flight LX2152 from Zurich to Palma de Mallorca on 25 October 2025. It departed at 07:11 local time with 233 passengers. SWISS said the initial short-haul deployments helped pilots complete the training required before intercontinental operations.

What was the A350’s first long-haul destination?
SWISS designated Boston as the aircraft’s first long-haul destination and announced an initial service date of 20 November 2025. That date was a published schedule plan; the announcement by itself does not establish which individual flights subsequently operated.
SWISS’s route information accessed on 8 October 2026 lists Boston and Seoul for Summer 2026. For Winter 2026/27, it lists Zurich–Johannesburg and selected Zurich–Shanghai flights. The page gives seven weekly flights for Johannesburg and seven for Shanghai in the timetable, but describes the Shanghai A350 deployment as applying to selected flights. These are schedule listings, not a guarantee that every flight on a route uses an A350. Confirm dates, frequency and aircraft assignment in SWISS’s live booking information before choosing a flight.

What is SWISS Senses?
SWISS Senses is the cabin concept first fitted to the airline’s A350 long-haul aircraft. SWISS announced the cabin in July 2025 and described new First and Business seating alongside features intended to update the passenger experience throughout the aircraft. The published specifications are the airline’s descriptions, not independent comfort testing.
First Class
SWISS announced First suites with sliding doors, a personal wardrobe, wireless charging, and seat heating and cooling. The center suite can be configured for two travelers. Airbus describes the configuration as three First Class suites accommodating up to four seats; SWISS’s facts page instead lists three SWISS First seats. Because the sources describe the center suite differently, the seat total is best taken from the airline’s current cabin specification.

What comes next for the SWISS A350 fleet?
On 12 September 2026, SWISS announced the arrival of its third A350-900, HB-IFC Zug. That announcement said the airline planned to add ten A350s by 2030. Earlier SWISS releases referred to delivery by 2031, so the airline’s final fleet-delivery year should not be treated as settled based on the earlier wording alone.
SWISS also described plans for A350 operations from Zurich to Shanghai and Johannesburg from October 2026. Its stated plan to roll out SWISS Senses gradually to existing Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft means the cabin concept is not necessarily limited to the A350 over time; rollout timing and aircraft availability may vary.
