Swimply is an hourly marketplace for privately listed pools and other venues, but whether a booking is worth it depends on the specific listing and its full checkout price—not just the advertised hourly rate. Hosts set availability, guest limits, rates, amenities, and house rules. I can’t claim to have booked or personally tested Swimply based on the available evidence, so this review focuses on how the service works, what it may cost, and what to verify before paying.
How Swimply works
Swimply connects guests with hosts who list private pools and other venues for hourly use. You search by location, select a listing and time, and book through the platform. Some reservations confirm instantly; others require host approval. Listing pages can show photos, amenities, guest limits, extra-guest fees, cancellation terms, host badges, and reviews from completed bookings. Swimply’s October 5, 2026 guide reports more than 15,000 hosts across 150-plus cities in the United States, Canada, and Australia, and more than 4 million experiences. These are company-reported figures, not an independent audit.
Keep booking-related communication and payment on Swimply. The company’s Terms of Service, effective May 5, 2025, say off-platform activity is outside its guarantee. Swimply also states: “Swimply is not an insurer, nor is Swimply acting as an agent in any capacity for any Member.”
What a Swimply booking may cost
Swimply’s guest cost guide, published July 9, 2024, says most listings have base rates of $25–$100 per hour. That range is a base price for a designated group size, not a reliable estimate of the final bill. The cost guide identifies possible extra-guest fees, optional amenities, a service fee, and taxes; discounts may also apply. Hosts set extra-guest charges, which should appear in the listing and price breakdown.

The guest service fee varies by booking. Swimply’s guidance, updated June 24, 2026, says factors include location, regulation, booking details, and demand; the exact fee appears at final checkout. Service fees are generally non-refundable if a guest cancels, though Swimply says they may be returned as credits. The guidance describes active Premium Pass members as receiving service-fee refunds to the original payment method. Check the current fee guidance and the listing’s cancellation policy, then compare the checkout total for the full duration and guest count.
How to compare listings before booking
Two pools with similar hourly rates can differ on guest allowance, facilities, rules, and cancellation conditions. Compare these details in the listing and checkout flow:

- Total price: Check the booking duration, guest count, add-ons, service fee, and taxes—not only the hourly base rate.
- Guest allowance: Confirm how many people the base price covers and what each additional guest costs. Swimply’s cost guidance counts infants and pets among guests.
- Amenities and access: Verify restroom access, shade, heating, and whether floats or other items are included rather than assuming they will be available.
- House rules: Check the listing for rules about music, alcohol, pets, food, events, and catering.
- Booking conditions: Read the cancellation terms, review listing photos and completed-booking reviews, and ask the host in Swimply Chat about details that are unclear.
Safety obligations and the protection guarantee
Swimply’s terms say hosts are responsible for maintaining venues and amenities for guest health and safety. The stated obligations include water treatment, a fence with a locking gate or reasonable security, a drain cover, and notice that no lifeguard is on duty. Hosts must also follow applicable local rules. These platform terms do not establish that Swimply independently inspects or certifies a particular pool; Swimply says it does not own or manage venues.
The Swimply Protection Guarantee, updated May 19, 2026, is conditional and secondary to qualifying primary insurance. The page says eligibility requires a valid homeowners or liability policy. It describes bodily-injury protection up to $1 million in USD/CAD in the United States and Canada, or AUD in Australia, subject to terms and exclusions. Separate property-damage protection is up to $10,000, is not an insurance policy, and has deductibles and other conditions. Read the current guarantee terms rather than treating these limits as blanket coverage or a substitute for a host’s own policy.

Rain, cancellations, and service-fee refunds
For weather that poses a safety risk, such as lightning or hail, Swimply’s terms say the host and guest should cancel. In the circumstances described, Swimply says it will not assess a host penalty and allows an accommodation on a different date within a week or another date agreed by both parties. This is distinct from the service-fee guidance for guest cancellations: fees are generally non-refundable, though they may be returned as credits, with the stated Premium Pass exception. Check the specific listing’s cancellation terms and agree on a weather plan with the host through Swimply Chat before the reservation.

Swimply can make sense when you want private, hourly access to a pool and a particular listing fits your group, location, and plans. The marketplace’s flexibility also means the experience and total cost depend on host-specific details. Treat the hourly price as a starting point, verify rules and facilities, and read the booking and protection terms before deciding.
