The Supreme Court of India’s Junior Court Attendant (Cooking Knowing) recruitment was a 2024 hiring cycle, not an open application today. Applications ran from 23 August to 12 September 2024, and the Supreme Court recruitment page now lists a final-result declaration for that examination. The notice advertised 80 vacancies and Level 3 pay.
What the 2024 notification offered
The Supreme Court invited eligible Indian citizens to form a panel for 80 Junior Court Attendant (Cooking Knowing) vacancies. The advertisement said the number of vacancies could increase or decrease. The post was placed in Level 3 of the Pay Matrix.
| Recruitment detail | What the 2024 advertisement stated |
|---|---|
| Vacancies | 80; the number could increase or decrease |
| Pay | ₹21,700 basic pay, plus usual admissible allowances |
| Estimated gross salary | Approximately ₹46,210 per month, including HRA at the rates current when the 2024 advertisement was issued; this is not a current take-home-pay guarantee |
These figures are from the Supreme Court’s 2024 advertisement.
Application dates and fee
The online application window opened on 23 August 2024. The Recruitment Cell said the form would go live at 10:00 hours that day. The official advertisement set the closing time at 24:00 on 12 September 2024.

A Scroll article reported 19 September as the deadline, but that conflicts with the official notice. The advertisement’s 12 September deadline is the controlling date. The recruitment is now concluded; the old application window should not be treated as current.
The application fee was ₹400, reduced to ₹200 for the categories specified in the advertisement. Applicants had to upload scanned photographs and signatures. The notice said submitted forms could not be withdrawn or modified. See the official application and examination terms and the Recruitment Cell’s form-opening announcement.
Who was eligible
The notice set education, training, experience and age requirements. Meeting them was necessary to apply, subject to the detailed category rules in the original advertisement.
- Education: Class X from a board or institute recognized by the government.
- Professional training: A full-time diploma of at least one year in cooking or culinary arts from a recognized institute.
- Experience: Three years of cooking experience at a “prestigious Hotel/Restaurant/Government department/Undertaking etc.”
An ex-serviceman without the one-year diploma could apply using a cooking or catering trade/competency certificate issued by a competent authority.

Age and relaxations
The ordinary age range was 18–27 years as of 1 August 2024. The notice provided age relaxations for specified categories, including SC/ST/OBC candidates, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen, certain women, and dependents of freedom fighters, subject to applicable rules. Supreme Court Registry employees with three years of regular service had no age limit under the notice. Employment in another government department did not, by itself, confer an age relaxation.
Because category-specific conditions affect eligibility, applicants needed to check the official eligibility and age provisions rather than rely on a general summary.

How selection worked
The process had three stages: an objective written test, a practical cooking trade-skill test, and an interview. The written test was in English and Hindi, lasted 90 minutes, and carried no negative marking.
| Stage or component | Marks |
|---|---|
| Written test: General Knowledge | 30 |
| Written test: Cooking/Culinary Arts | 70 |
| Practical cooking test | 70 |
| Interview | 30 |
| Total selection marks | 200 |
The notice required a minimum qualifying threshold of 60% in each written-test component and an overall 60% threshold. Its full qualifying and progression rules are set out in the advertisement’s examination table. The practical test covered cooking and hygiene. Candidates could give three preferred test centres from the listed locations; centre preference was subject to the notice’s arrangements. Details of stages and centre preferences appear in the selection provisions.
Panel placement did not guarantee appointment
The advertisement expressly warned that inclusion in the panel did not create a right to a job: “The candidates may note that mere placement in panel does not confer any right on the candidates to claim appointment for the posts of Junior Court Attendant (cooking knowing).” The panel caveat is in the official notice.
Current status of the recruitment
The Supreme Court recruitment page lists a declaration of final result for the 2024 examination. The August 2024 announcement is therefore historical; it is not a live vacancy notice. Readers looking for a later opportunity should rely on a newer official recruitment notice rather than reuse these dates or the old application route. The Supreme Court recruitment page carries the 2024 cycle’s current status.
