Those figures are not confirmed salaries, and the available evidence does not support a reliable ranking of the six by value for money. Here is what the estimates say—and what would be needed to judge value fairly.
Who are Sunderland’s highest-paid players?

SalaryLeaks’ Sunderland salary estimates says its figures are compiled from public reports; Sunderland has not published an individual salary list in the sources available here.

These are estimates of reported wages, not confirmed amounts Sunderland pays directly. Contract arrangements, including any loan terms, can affect who bears a particular cost; the figures alone do not establish that allocation.
Why other wage lists show different players
The top-six cutoff is uncertain. In a September 24, 2025 report based on Capology data, The Football Group listed Xhaka at an estimated £110,000 per week, Mukiele at £100,000, Geertruida at £85,000, Le Fée at £75,000, Simon Adingra at £70,000, and Omar Alderete and Bertrand Traoré tied at £65,000. That snapshot therefore differs both in some amounts and in who appears in the six highest-paid positions. The Football Group’s September 2025 wage table cautioned that the club and players are the only parties who know the wages with certainty.

FBref search results also label surfaced wage figures as “Unverified estimation”: they showed Xhaka at £110,000 per week, Le Fée at £75,000 and Diarra at £50,000, but did not provide a complete, independently checkable roster in the accessible result. FBref’s wage listing is therefore further evidence that these figures are estimates, not an audited payroll.
Can the six be ranked by value for money?
Not defensibly from salary figures alone. A wage list ranks estimated cost; value for money asks what contribution Sunderland receives for that cost. No complete, consistently sourced performance comparison for all six players is established here, so assigning first through sixth would imply a level of evidence that is not available.

A fair comparison would put estimated wages alongside:
- Availability and minutes: appearances and playing time show how much of the season a player was available to contribute.
- Role-appropriate output: goals and assists matter for attackers, while defensive work, progression and other responsibilities are important for players in different roles. Comparing a defender and striker only by goals would be misleading.
- Role and expectations: assess whether each player performed the job Sunderland brought him in to do, rather than applying one statistic to every position.
- Contract context: a loan or other arrangement may shape the cost to Sunderland, but it should not be assumed that the club bears a player’s full estimated wage unless that is established.
Without consistent data for those measures, the most accurate answer is that these six are a provisional group of estimated high earners—not a ranked list of the best or worst bargains.

What market value can—and cannot—tell you
Transfermarkt’s 2025–26 squad page puts Sunderland’s total squad market value at around €383 million and provides a roster overview with player market values and contract information. Transfermarkt’s Sunderland squad page offers context about estimated player values, but squad market value is not the club’s wage bill, a realized transfer return or proof that any player is delivering value for money.
