Newcastle’s lead owner, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), reported more than $900 billion in assets under management for 2025—but that is the scale of an investment fund, not one person’s wealth or money available to spend on Newcastle. A reliable current personal-net-worth figure for Louis-Dreyfus has not been established.
Can Sunderland and Newcastle’s owners be ranked by net worth?
Not on the available figures. The comparison mixes two different things: PIF’s institutional assets under management and the personal wealth of Sunderland chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus. Assets under management (AUM) describe investments managed by a fund; personal net worth is an individual’s assets minus liabilities. Neither measure tells you how much a club owner can or will put into a football club.
As a result, saying that Newcastle’s owners are personally worth more than Sunderland’s owner based on PIF’s AUM would be misleading. The figure indicates the fund’s scale, not the personal wealth of a person who owns Newcastle.
What is publicly known about Newcastle United’s ownership?
Newcastle United’s current corporate information describes the club as owned by a group led by PIF and RB Sports & Media, and identifies Jamie Reuben as RB Sports & Media’s ultimate beneficial owner. The current description is therefore a group ownership structure, not a single individual owner.

In July 2024, Newcastle announced that PIF and RB Sports & Media would acquire PCP Capital Partners’ shareholding. The club described the resulting split as approximately 85% for PIF and 15% for RB Sports & Media; Amanda Staveley would leave her club positions and divest her shareholding. The club’s October 2021 announcement had described the acquisition as an investment group led by PIF alongside PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media.
Those approximate percentages are the ownership structure announced in 2024. They should not be mistaken for a valuation of the owners’ personal wealth.

What does PIF’s more than $900 billion figure mean?
PIF reported more than $900 billion in assets under management for 2025 in its announcement of 17 August 2026. That is a fund-level measure. It does not mean PIF has $900 billion in cash, that the entire amount belongs to Newcastle’s ownership group, or that it is available to invest in the club.
PIF also reported 2025 revenue of $120 billion and net profit of $17 billion in that announcement. Those are fund financial results, not the personal income or net worth of an individual Newcastle owner. None provides a like-for-like personal-net-worth comparison with Louis-Dreyfus.

What is known about Sunderland’s owner and shareholding?
A Sunderland Limited strategic report gives a dated shareholding snapshot: Kyril Louis-Dreyfus at 51%, Juan Sartori at 30% and Stewart Donald at 19%. That report does not establish the current 2026 shareholding, so the percentages should not be presented as a confirmed current split.
The same distinction applies to wealth. The cited secondary Sunderland ownership page says reputable publications do not report a net-worth figure for Louis-Dreyfus and cautions against treating his mother’s control of family wealth as his personal wealth. This supports saying that a reliable current personal figure has not been established; it does not establish a net-worth amount for him.

What the comparison can—and cannot—tell you
| Question | What the public information supports |
|---|---|
| Who leads Newcastle’s ownership group? | PIF leads a group that includes RB Sports & Media, according to Newcastle United’s current corporate information. |
| What ownership split did Newcastle announce? | Approximately 85% PIF and 15% RB Sports & Media after the announced 2024 restructuring. |
| How large is PIF? | More than $900 billion in assets under management for 2025, as reported by PIF on 17 August 2026. This is not personal net worth or Newcastle’s spending budget. |
| What is Louis-Dreyfus’s personal net worth? | A reliable current figure is not established by the cited sources. |
| What was Sunderland’s reported shareholding? | A dated report lists Louis-Dreyfus at 51%, Sartori at 30% and Donald at 19%; it does not confirm the 2026 split. |
The evidence therefore supports a comparison of ownership structures and disclosed institutional scale, but not a personal-wealth league table. A defensible ranking would require comparable, current personal net-worth estimates for the relevant owners—not a fund’s AUM on one side and an individual’s undocumented wealth on the other.
