Those model-by-model figures came from a dealer notice the outlet said was later deleted; they are historical reported amounts, not today’s prices.
What Subaru said about the price increases
In a statement quoted by Car and Driver on May 27, 2025, Subaru said: “The changes were made to offset increased costs while maintaining a solid value proposition for the customer. Subaru pricing is not based on the country of origin of its products.” The outlet characterized the announcement as a response to current market conditions.
Reuters reported on May 19, 2025, that Subaru described the changes as a response to “current market conditions.” Neither report establishes a specific cost, policy, or event as the trigger.
How much the reported increases were by model
The following figures are the amounts Car and Driver attributed to a dealer notice that it said had since been deleted. The ranges depend on trim; they should not be treated as current MSRP.

Car and Driver reported that nearly every model in Subaru’s lineup was affected and that the Solterra was the exception. The outlet’s reported overall range was $750 to $2,055.
Did Subaru confirm tariffs caused the increases?
No. Car and Driver said Subaru’s spokesperson did not outright confirm tariffs were the cause, and Reuters noted that Subaru’s statement did not cite tariffs. The statement that pricing was not based on a product’s country of origin does not establish that tariffs triggered the increases.

Subaru Corporation’s business-risk disclosures describe general exposure to raw-material, logistics, energy, and labor costs, as well as U.S. tariff policies that may raise procurement costs for imported parts and finished vehicles. The company says cost increases may be reflected in product prices when cost-improvement efforts cannot absorb them. That general disclosure provides context, but it does not identify what caused the May 2025 pricing action.
