Stocks to Watch on Monday, 5 October 2026: HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, YES Bank and More

HDFC Bank’s reported leadership appointment, YES Bank loan growth and Bajaj Finance’s proposed warrant issue are among the items in Livemint’s 5 October 2026 watch list. The specific DMart and auto-stock catalysts remain unclear.

For Monday, 5 October 2026, the reported watch list centers on HDFC Bank, YES Bank, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Zinc, Bharat Coking Coal, RVNL, Punjab National Bank, DLF, Indian Bank and IDBI Bank. Livemint’s 4 October preview cited leadership, business updates, a proposed fundraising issue, production figures, a regulatory warning, a cancelled project award and property sales. Its report does not establish why DMart or a broader group of auto stocks is in focus, so those headline references cannot be tied to a specific catalyst here.

What is behind the named stocks?

The items below are reported by Livemint in its 4 October 2026 day-ahead article. They describe events or figures to monitor, not recommendations or predictions of share-price moves.

HDFC Bank: leadership appointment

Livemint reported that HDFC Bank appointed Anup Bagchi as managing director and chief executive officer after Reserve Bank of India approval for a three-year term. The report is the basis for this account; the underlying bank or regulatory disclosure has not been independently checked here.

YES Bank: loan growth

According to Livemint, YES Bank’s loans and advances stood at ₹3.1 lakh crore on 30 September 2026, nearly 24% above ₹2.5 lakh crore a year earlier. The comparison is year over year and the balance is as of 30 September, not a full-quarter result.

Bajaj Finance: proposed warrant issue

Livemint said the board approved a preferential issue of warrants convertible into an equivalent number of equity shares, with the total issue size capped at ₹5,800 crore. This is an approved proposal, not completed fundraising; the reported cap should not be read as proceeds already received.

Production, regulatory, project and property updates

Hindustan Zinc and Bharat Coking Coal: September production

  • Livemint reported Hindustan Zinc mined metal production of 271 kilotonnes, up 5% year over year, and saleable metal production of 264 kilotonnes, up 7%.
  • For Bharat Coking Coal, Livemint reported September raw coal production of 2.57 million tonnes, up 20.7% from 2.13 million tonnes a year earlier.

RVNL: cancelled letter of acceptance

Livemint reported that a letter of acceptance issued to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) was cancelled. The report identifies a project/order-related development; it does not provide enough detail here to assess the financial effect.

Punjab National Bank: SEBI administrative warning

Livemint said the Securities and Exchange Board of India issued PNB an administrative warning concerning alleged insider-trading-rule violations involving six individuals. An administrative warning and allegations should not be presented as a finding that the bank or the individuals committed a violation.

DLF: The Aureva sales

Livemint reported that DLF sold out The Aureva and recorded sales of around ₹1,985 crore. The figure is the report’s stated sales amount; the available account does not provide further detail on timing or recognition.

Bank business updates

  • Indian Bank: Livemint reported total business of ₹15.96 lakh crore, up 14.2% year over year and 4.4% sequentially.
  • IDBI Bank: Livemint reported total business of ₹6.27 lakh crore, up 18% year over year.

These are total-business figures as reported by Livemint, not loan-growth measures. Its 4 October article is a secondary report; company or exchange disclosures are the appropriate primary sources for verification.

DMart and auto stocks: catalyst not established

The available evidence does not establish a specific 4 October catalyst for DMart or identify which automobile companies are meant by the headline’s “auto stocks” reference. NSE identifies Avenue Supermarts Limited under the symbol DMART and records a Q1 FY2026–27 filing and a July investor presentation, but those records do not establish a link to this particular Monday watch list: NSE: Avenue Supermarts (DMART).

An NSE filing search shows a Bajaj Auto press release dated 1 October, but the available excerpt does not state its contents. It is not a basis for inferring September vehicle sales or extending the list to other auto shares: NSE corporate filings and announcements.

Market context from the prior week

Livemint reported the Sensex closed at 71,909.70 after losing 1,670.84 points over the week, and the Nifty closed at 22,421.95 after falling more than 3%. These are reported closing figures and provide recent market context only; they are not live prices for 5 October or a forecast.

How to use a one-day watch list

  • Check the company or exchange filing for the original disclosure, especially for regulatory matters and proposed fundraising.
  • Distinguish a reported operating result from a proposal, appointment, warning or cancelled award; they are different kinds of catalysts.
  • Use the stated measurement date and comparison period when assessing business or production figures.
  • Treat the list as a prompt for further research, not as a buy or sell signal. It is specific to the 5 October 2026 session and quickly loses relevance after that date.
