Valve introduced a selection of “extra-deep discounts” but did not set a percentage threshold for that label. It also advertised thousands of discounted games and a temporary 15% discount on two Steam Deck LCD models.
When was the Steam Summer Sale 2024?
Valve’s official announcement and trailer put the sale from June 27 to July 11, 2024. It lasted 15 days, counting both the first and last dates. These are historical dates; the event and its offers are over.
Valve’s Summer Sale announcement introduced the event’s new discount feature, while the official Steam trailer gave the dates and promoted the sale.
What were the “extra-deep discounts”?
Valve described a new selection of “extra-deep discounts” for shoppers to browse for especially good deals. The announcement did not define “extra-deep” as a particular percentage off, so the label should not be read as a guarantee that every featured game met the same discount level.
#1 Best Overall
The trailer described thousands of games on sale across genres. That was Valve’s promotional description, not an independently verified count of the catalogue or a measure of how many games qualified for the extra-deep selection.
Was the Steam Deck discounted?
Yes. Steam’s official trailer description advertised 15% off the 64GB LCD and 512GB LCD Steam Deck models through the end of the 2024 sale, July 11. The offer was temporary and is no longer available; it should not be treated as a current Steam Deck price or discount.

How does the event fit Steam’s seasonal sales?
Steamworks identifies Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter as Steam’s four major seasonal sale events. The 2024 Summer Sale was one event in that recurring calendar, not an ongoing discount period. Valve’s Steamworks seasonal sales guidance describes the four-event structure.
