Re:

Starlink Is a Major Profit Engine for SpaceX. Can SPCX Double?

SpaceX’s Starlink-linked Connectivity segment is a major profit engine, but subscriber growth, falling ARPU, heavy investment and valuation all matter to SPCX’s chances of doubling.

Starlink-linked Connectivity has become a major source of SpaceX’s operating profit, but that alone does not show that SpaceX stock will double. The segment’s earnings are growing even as subscriber average revenue per user falls, while SpaceX’s investment spending has exceeded its operating cash flow. For investors, the question is whether future company-wide cash generation can justify a higher share price—not simply whether Starlink adds customers.

How much profit is Starlink-linked Connectivity producing?

SpaceX reported $4.423 billion in Connectivity segment operating income in 2025, up from $2.006 billion in 2024, according to its SEC-filed company report. That is a substantial increase in reported segment operating income, a measure of earnings from the segment’s operations—not revenue, cash flow, or profit attributable solely to consumer Starlink service.

Connectivity is principally associated with Starlink, but the filing does not make the segment identical to consumer Starlink. SpaceX attributed the year-over-year improvement principally to consumer and enterprise customer growth, partly offset by higher depreciation, marketing and international expansion costs. Those offsets matter: serving more customers can grow the segment while also requiring greater operating expense and investment.

Are more subscribers translating into more revenue per customer?

In the first quarter of 2026, Connectivity operating income was $1.188 billion, compared with $1.033 billion in the first quarter of 2025. Over the same year-over-year period, the SEC-filed report says consumer subscribers grew 104.7%, while subscriber average revenue per user (ARPU) fell 22.9%, primarily because of international expansion and lower-priced plans.

Measure Reported result What it indicates
Connectivity operating income, Q1 2026 $1.188 billion, versus $1.033 billion in Q1 2025 Higher segment operating income year over year.
Consumer subscribers, Q1 2026 year over year Up 104.7% A much larger customer base.
Subscriber ARPU, Q1 2026 year over year Down 22.9% Lower average service revenue per subscriber, primarily linked to international expansion and lower-priced plans.

The combination shows why subscriber growth alone is not proof that unit economics are improving. Lower-priced plans and expansion into international markets can bring in many customers while reducing average revenue per user. The relevant question is whether the additional scale ultimately produces enough total revenue and operating profit to outweigh lower average revenue and the costs of serving and acquiring those customers. The reported operating-income increase is encouraging, but it does not by itself answer that longer-term question.

Does SpaceX keep the cash its operating profit suggests?

No: reported segment operating income and company-wide cash flow measure different things. Operating income reflects the segment’s reported operating results; it is not a measure of cash left in the company after investment. SpaceX’s June 2026 prospectus reported $6.785 billion of operating cash flow in 2025 and $19.575 billion used in investing activities. The prospectus said the larger investing outflows were chiefly associated with capital spending on data centers and related infrastructure, and space-launch facilities.

Company-wide 2025 cash-flow measure Amount How to read it
Cash from operating activities $6.785 billion Cash generated by operating activities during the year.
Net cash used in investing activities $19.575 billion Cash outflow from investing activities; the prospectus identifies capital spending on data centers, related infrastructure and launch facilities as the chief drivers of the increase.

These are consolidated company figures, not Starlink-only amounts. Investing cash flow is also broader than a simple measure of routine capital expenditure. But the comparison makes the central point clear: in 2025, investing outflows exceeded operating cash flow. A profitable segment can help fund SpaceX’s ambitions without leaving the company with equivalent cash available to shareholders. The prospectus does not establish that the investment will generate a particular return or when it might do so.

What does “double” mean for SPCX investors?

SpaceX priced its initial public offering at $135 per share in its June 11, 2026 pricing announcement; Nasdaq reported that trading began on June 12, 2026. The ticker is SPCX. The offering price was an IPO price, not a standing price available to every investor.

For a buyer, doubling means the share price reaches twice that buyer’s purchase price, before considering dividends, taxes, fees or any share-count adjustments. The following are arithmetic reference points, not forecasts or price targets:

Reference basis Reference price Price at 2× that reference
IPO price announced June 11, 2026 $135 $270
Investing.com market-data quote dated October 1, 2026 $151.14 $302.28

The October 1 quote is a dated reference, not a live October 4 price. An investor assessing a possible doubling should use their own purchase price—or a clearly dated market quote—and recalculate the hurdle if the price changes.

What would have to go right for the stock to double?

Rising Connectivity earnings could support a higher valuation if subscriber growth continues to translate into durable segment profits and stronger company-wide cash generation. For that to be persuasive, investors would need to see whether customer gains can offset lower ARPU, whether expansion and operating costs remain manageable, and whether large investments eventually produce cash returns.

Connectivity is only one part of the investment case. The company’s other businesses, consolidated cash generation, investment requirements and the valuation investors are already paying all affect what SPCX shares may be worth. The figures above do not provide a defensible probability that the stock will double, or enough information to calculate a justified target price. Strong results in one segment can help the case; they do not guarantee a particular share-price outcome.
