Star Balloons are virtual gifts on AfreecaTV, referred to in secondary sources as SOOP, not physical gift items.
What a Star Balloon calculator estimates
A calculator typically turns a planned gift quantity into two separate estimates: the viewer’s purchase cost and the creator’s proceeds after deductions. Some tools also display a possible discount. Treat each as a separate figure: the checkout total is not the creator’s payout, and a displayed payout estimate is not necessarily the creator’s net income.
- Viewer cost: the amount due for the selected Star Balloons, subject to the price and terms shown in the platform’s purchase flow.

How to estimate a gift without mistaking it for a guarantee
- Choose a quantity. Enter the number of Star Balloons you intend to send. If comparing quantities, compare the total shown at checkout rather than assuming a larger bundle has a lower per-balloon price.
- Check the actual purchase total. Confirm the price, currency, and any payment-method charge in SOOP’s current checkout flow before paying.
- Apply only a displayed discount. Confirm its eligibility, dates, and conditions. A general mention of bulk-purchase discounts, memberships, or event promotions does not establish that an offer is active for your account.
- Read the creator-proceeds estimate as a model. Check which platform deduction and withholding assumptions the calculator uses. If it does not disclose them, its payout result cannot be meaningfully verified from the displayed number alone.
- Verify relevant terms before purchase. Check SOOP’s current rules for payment charges and refund eligibility, and rely on the creator’s applicable partner or settlement guidance for payout conditions.
What published example rates do—and do not—show
A separate Korean-language calculator page lists a viewer price of 110 KRW per Star Balloon and models a 100 KRW base amount, a 40% platform deduction, and 3.3% withholding. Under that page’s assumptions, the result is about 60 KRW before withholding and 58.02 KRW after withholding. These are that calculator’s published estimates, not verified current SOOP rates or a guaranteed payment to every creator. The same calculator’s listed quantities retain the same per-unit price, so it does not support assuming that bulk purchases always reduce the unit cost. TechAnnouncer mentions possible bulk discounts, memberships, and event promotions, but does not establish that they are currently offered or specify their terms. Confirm any saving in checkout rather than building it into an estimate.
How much of a Star Balloon donation does a BJ actually receive?
There is no universal percentage established by the sources reviewed. TechAnnouncer says creators receive less than the viewer’s full payment after platform fees or commissions, but provides no rate. The secondary calculator’s roughly 58.02 KRW example depends on its own stated assumptions and should not be generalized to another creator, contract, or current settlement.

Even a platform-proceeds estimate is not necessarily the creator’s take-home income: withholding and the creator’s broader tax circumstances are separate considerations. The available sources do not establish current official settlement terms or a creator’s complete tax treatment.
Do Star Balloon purchases always come with discounts?
No standing discount is established by the available information. Promotions may be described generally, but availability, eligibility, and price effects must be checked in the live purchase flow. A calculator that assumes a discount can overstate the savings if the offer is unavailable or does not apply to your account.
