Is SSC CHT 2024 still open?
No. The application window ran from 2 August to 25 August 2024, closing at 23:00. The online fee could be paid until 23:00 on 26 August 2024. Those dates apply only to the 2024 recruitment cycle; they do not indicate when a later cycle will open. SSC’s examination notice sets out the original schedule.
How many vacancies were there?
The original notice gave an approximate figure of 312 and cautioned that the firm number would be determined later. SSC’s tentative vacancy table dated 10 February 2025 lists 320 in total. The difference reflects later vacancy information, not a correction that makes the original notice’s dated estimate inaccurate. The later total is tentative, not a guarantee of the final number.
The recruitment covered Group B, non-gazetted translator posts in central government ministries and organizations. SSC’s vacancy table says it does not collect state-wise or zone-wise vacancy information.

These are the stated pay scales, not estimates of take-home pay. Actual salary after appointment can depend on applicable allowances and deductions; the notice’s scale alone does not establish a net monthly amount.
Who was eligible?
Educational and translation qualifications
For post codes A–C, applicants needed one of the specified master’s-degree combinations involving Hindi and English, plus either a recognized translation diploma or certificate for translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or two years of relevant translation experience in a Central or State Government office, including a Government of India undertaking.

For code D, the notice required the specified degree combinations and either the translation diploma or certificate, or three years of relevant experience. The essential qualification had to be held by the application closing date, 25 August 2024. Because the permitted degree combinations and qualification conditions are specific, applicants should consult the official notice rather than assuming any master’s degree or translation course qualifies.
Age limit and relaxations
The general age limit was 18–30 years as of 1 August 2024. The notice provided category-based relaxations, including five years for SC/ST applicants and three years for OBC applicants, subject to its conditions. It lists further categories and rules; check the notice for the full eligibility details. These age rules are specific to the 2024 cycle.
