The Staff Selection Commission accepted applications from June 5 through June 26, 2025, with the application window closing at 11 p.m. that day. The headline “closes today” applied on June 26, 2025—not now. SSC’s next Combined Hindi Translators Examination cycle, for 2026, also had a past application window: April 23 to May 14, 2026. Check the official SSC website for any newer notice; neither cycle is currently open based on the dates in the notices cited here.
What “437 vacancies” meant in the 2025 notice
SSC described approximately 437 vacancies for the 2025 examination as tentative. It said the final number would be determined later and directed candidates to its tentative-vacancy page for updates. The figure should not be read as a confirmed final total or as 437 Junior Translation Officer (JTO) jobs: the recruitment covered several translator post types and organizations.

The 2025 application fee was ₹100. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates were exempt under that cycle’s terms. SSC listed BHIM UPI, net banking and specified debit cards as online payment options. These fee rules apply to the 2025 notice only; check a later notice for current terms.
Who met the stated junior-post eligibility?
For post codes A–C, covering junior Hindi translator/JTO/junior translator roles, the 2025 notice required a recognized master’s degree with one of the specified Hindi-and-English subject or medium combinations. Candidates also needed either a recognized diploma or certificate in Hindi-to-English and English-to-Hindi translation, or two years of translation work in a central or state government office, including a government undertaking. The qualification had to be held by August 1, 2025.
The stated age limit for most posts was 18–30 as of August 1, 2025, with relaxations for eligible categories under the notice. The CRPF Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) post used a different age-reckoning date: June 26, 2025. Do not assume the same cutoff date applied to every post. Consult the applicable notice for category-specific relaxations and any role-specific conditions.

Paper I: objective Hindi and English
Paper I was a two-hour computer-based test with 100 questions and 100 marks in General Hindi and 100 questions and 100 marks in General English. SSC prescribed a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The syllabus addressed language and literature understanding, correct use of words, phrases and idioms, and the ability to write accurately, precisely and effectively.
Paper II: descriptive translation and essays
Paper II was a two-hour descriptive paper worth 200 marks. It included one passage for Hindi-to-English translation, one for English-to-Hindi translation, and an essay in each language. Preparation should therefore include practice in both translation directions as well as writing essays in Hindi and English. A Hindi–English translation practice book may be one optional study resource; SSC does not endorse or require a particular book.
What changed in the 2026 cycle?
The next official cycle identified here was the Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026. Its application window ran April 23–May 14, 2026; fee payment was due May 15, and the correction window was May 19–20. Paper I was scheduled during August–September 2026. SSC listed 84 tentative vacancies for that cycle. Those dates have also passed, and the vacancy figure was tentative—not a confirmed final count. For any later notice or revision, use SSC’s official website rather than relying on an old application headline.
