No. As of 8 October 2026, SSC CGL 2026 registration is closed. The last time to submit an application was 11 p.m. on 22 June 2026, and the fee-payment deadline was 11 p.m. on 23 June. The headline figure of 14,582 vacancies is not confirmed by the initial notification: it estimated approximately 12,256, and SSC later listed a tentative vacancy update whose total is not available in the notice-board excerpt.

SSC CGL 2026 dates and application status

Event Date and time
Applications opened 21 May 2026
Application deadline 22 June 2026, 23:00
Fee-payment deadline 23 June 2026, 23:00
Application correction window 29 June–1 July 2026, through 23:00
Tier-I schedule in the original notice August–September 2026 (tentative)
Tier-II schedule in the original notice December 2026 (tentative)

These dates come from the SSC CGL 2026 examination notice. Its exam months were tentative; check the SSC website and notice board for later schedule notices, city or admission-certificate information, and candidate-specific updates. The original notice listed a ₹100 fee, with exemptions for women candidates, SC and ST candidates, eligible ex-servicemen, and persons with benchmark disabilities.

How many vacancies are there?

The initial SSC notification estimated approximately 12,256 vacancies. It said updated post-wise and category-wise vacancies would be made available on SSC’s website. SSC’s notice board lists a later document titled “Tentative Vacancy of Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2026 as on 24.09.2026,” but the total in that document is not established by the available notice-board excerpt. Therefore, 14,582 should not be presented as a verified current total without checking the actual update.

Vacancies are tentative and may change. SSC says recruitment is based on vacancies reported by user ministries and departments, which handle reservation rosters and related decisions. The examination notice says SSC does not collect state-wise or zone-wise vacancy figures.

Who can apply, and what should candidates check?

SSC CGL is a graduate-level recruitment examination, but there is no single age limit or qualification that applies to every post. The required degree or subject background, age band, and any additional experience or physical or medical standards depend on the post. Age limits in the 2026 notice are calculated as of 1 August 2026, with category-specific relaxations.

  • Check the exact post’s educational qualification and age band in the official notice.
  • Confirm that any claimed category relaxation or other eligibility condition can be supported with the required documents.
  • Review physical, efficiency, and medical standards before choosing preferences for posts that have them.
  • Consider the post’s pay level, duties, department, Tier-II or skill-test requirements, location expectations, and possible all-India service liability.

Submitting an application does not finally establish eligibility. Candidature is provisional; the relevant user department or organization checks qualifications, category claims, and supporting documents during document verification. An unsupported claim or discrepancy can lead to cancellation. The notice permits one application during the normal application period and warns that multiple applications under different registration numbers can be rejected.

What is the SSC CGL exam pattern?

Tier-I

Tier-I is an objective computer-based examination with four sections. The notice assigns 25 questions and 50 marks to each section, for a standard total duration of one hour with sectional timers. Each wrong answer carries a deduction of 0.50 marks.

Section Questions Marks
General Intelligence and Reasoning 25 50
General Awareness 25 50
Quantitative Aptitude 25 50
English Comprehension 25 50

The section counts, marks, duration, and negative-marking rule above are from the 2026 examination notice.

Tier-II

Tier-II is also computer based. Paper-I is common, while additional papers apply to particular posts, including posts with statistics or finance and accounting requirements. Some computer-knowledge and data-entry components are qualifying. Merit depends on Tier-II performance and the rules applicable to the post, so use the notice’s detailed scheme to confirm the papers and qualifying requirements for the post you are targeting.
