Squirters Car Wash owner Mark Stanich says the name came from a suggestion about water pistols—not from a deliberate sexual double meaning. When the business opened its Mandurah site in October 2024, however, the name drew attention for that connotation, with reactions reported as mixed.
How Squirters got its name
In a Mandurah Times report published by PerthNow on 23 October 2024, Stanich said the idea began with water pistols: “Lots of names were thrown around and someone mentioned water pistols ‘squirt’ and it kind of went from there,” he said.
He said the sexual connotation was not part of the naming decision: “(We) didn’t think about the connotations at the time of creating the name, it was all innocent.” Those comments describe Stanich’s account of how the name was chosen.
Why the name drew attention
“Squirters” can suggest sexual activity, including in pornography, as well as water being squirted. The Mandurah Times report said the name prompted laughter and attention because of its pornographic connotation. Stanich told the paper that most of the attention was positive, although some people were offended.

The report characterized a social-media post about the business as attracting “hundreds of comments and reactions.” It did not give an exact count or explain how the responses were measured, so that description is not a precise tally or evidence of Mandurah-wide opinion.
Mandurah was the second WA location
The Mandurah Times reported that the Mandurah site was Squirters’ second Western Australian location, after Baldivis, and that it had opened the week before the article appeared. The company’s website says the Mandurah site opened in October 2024 and its Baldivis site in 2013. Those opening dates are company-published information.

What the company lists at Mandurah
Squirters’ website currently describes Mandurah as a 24/7, card-only site with three touch-free automatic washes, four vacuums, two dog washes and vending machines. Its FAQ gives the automatic-wash clearance height as 2.25 metres. These are the business’s published details, not an independent inspection; hours, facilities and access information can change.
