Short answer: Spectrum’s residential broadband disclosure lists unlimited data, a $0 early-termination fee, and no-charge modem or gateway leasing for applicable current offerings. You still need an authorized modem, may pay for Wi-Fi add-ons, and should check your own account for cancellation steps, balances, and equipment-return requirements. The figures below come from Spectrum’s disclosure revised September 16, 2026; offers and terms can vary or change.
Does Spectrum Internet have a data cap?
For the residential broadband offerings covered by Spectrum’s disclosure, data is listed as unlimited and additional data usage has no charge. This does not establish the same terms for Spectrum Mobile, business service, every legacy arrangement, or property-provided plans. Spectrum’s residential broadband disclosure is the reference for the plans it covers.
Does Spectrum Internet require a contract?
Spectrum’s residential disclosure lists a $0 early-termination fee. That figure is not a guarantee that closing an account leaves no balance: outstanding service charges, equipment obligations, bundled-service effects, or a separate device commitment may still matter. Review your offer and account before canceling.
What does Spectrum Internet cost?
Spectrum’s disclosure, revised September 16, 2026, lists these standard residential retail tiers and prices. Spectrum says standard rates and speed tiers are the same across its 41-state service area, but availability and offers can vary by market; check your address and current account bill. The listed prices are not a guarantee of a promotional offer or the amount of a complete bill. Taxes, fees, eligibility, and local availability can affect what is available or owed. See Spectrum’s broadband disclosure for the published figures.

The disclosure also lists 100 Mbps and Internet Assist tiers with limited eligibility; the figures above do not establish that either is available at a particular address. The speed figures are wired download/upload rates, not a promise of that rate over Wi-Fi or at every device. Spectrum says its typical speed and latency measurements are taken at the modem; actual performance can vary.
How much does Spectrum charge for Wi-Fi and equipment?

Can you use your own modem or router with Spectrum?
Modem: check authorization before buying
Spectrum requires an authorized modem. Its DOCSIS policy says third-party retail cable modems may be used when tested, certified, and approved by Spectrum. Spectrum distinguishes fully performance-certified recommended devices from minimally qualified devices, which may not deliver the purchased speed or could experience interruptions or degraded service. Authorization involves CableLabs and FCC certification as well as Charter’s own certification process. Check the current Spectrum authorized modem list before purchasing; no particular retail model is verified here.

Router: weigh cost, coverage, and support
A router provides home Wi-Fi; it does not replace the cable modem. Compare Spectrum’s monthly Wi-Fi add-on charges with the cost of customer-owned Wi-Fi equipment, while accounting for your home’s coverage needs and the support trade-off. Spectrum’s residential Internet agreement displayed during the research period says third-party networking devices may be used and that Spectrum does not provide technical assistance for third-party hardware or software. That agreement is marked effective October 7, 2026, after the October 4, 2026 research timestamp, so it should not be treated as effective on October 4. Check the agreement and its effective date for the terms applicable to your service.
How do you cancel Spectrum Internet?
Spectrum’s cancellation support page directs customers to sign in to view cancellation options and also links to equipment-return information. The page does not establish one universal cancellation channel or a specific confirmation procedure. Start at Spectrum’s Change or Cancel Your Spectrum Service page, sign in, and follow the options shown for your account. Check the account for any bundled service or separate device commitment that may be affected.

Will Spectrum prorate your final bill, and when must equipment be returned?
The available Spectrum cancellation page points to return information, but it does not by itself establish a billing-cycle proration rule or return deadline. Spectrum’s residential Internet agreement displayed during the research period is marked effective October 7, 2026—three days after the October 4, 2026 research timestamp—so its cancellation language cannot be presented as the terms effective on October 4. Before canceling, check the agreement currently governing your account and the instructions Spectrum shows after sign-in; do not assume a final-bill adjustment or a particular equipment-return window.
