In August 2025, a report said Southwest Airlines planned to end 29 routes in March 2026. That date has passed, but the available account does not confirm which changes took effect. It preserves only eight route entries, so it is not a complete list of the 29. Check Southwest’s current schedule for your exact city pair before changing travel plans.
What the March 2026 route-cut report says
The August 19, 2025 report described 29 routes as scheduled to end in March 2026. Because the source is a partial reproduction and the planned date is now past, the figure should be treated as a historical plan—not confirmation that all 29 routes were actually canceled.
The report did not establish whether the routes would return as seasonal service. It quoted Southwest as saying, “66 seasonal routes have been added to our network starting in March.” That statement concerns seasonal additions generally; it does not show that any of the routes listed as ending would return seasonally.

What the report said about two routes
Denver–Providence
The article attributed figures for the 12 months through May 2025 to U.S. Department of Transportation data: 57,000 round-trip passengers, 81% seat occupancy, and about 55% of passengers connecting through Denver. These are historical statistics as reported by the article, not independently verified here. The article also described the route as 1,509 nautical miles each way and Southwest’s second-longest domestic service from Denver. It cited Cirium Diio for the route’s history: service until August 2014, followed by a resumption in June 2024.

San Jose–Kahului
The article described this route as 2,046 nautical miles each way and Southwest’s third-longest from San Jose, and said it had been served since May 2019. Its account of August service levels was daily in 2019, twice daily in 2021–2023, weekend-only in 2024, and four departures from August 1–4 in 2025. The report forecast a return on October 4, 2025; that forecast does not establish whether the route operates now.

Search Southwest’s current schedule for the specific origin, destination, and travel date. A city pair’s presence in a past route-cut report is not enough to establish whether flights are available now. Before rebooking or choosing another itinerary, compare:

- Whether the option is nonstop or requires a connection.
- Total travel time and connection duration.
- Operating days and departure times that fit your plans.
- The departure airport, especially where a metro area has more than one.
- The fare and any schedule changes involved in switching flights.
The available report does not confirm current competing flights or alternatives for any listed route. Verify live schedules for the dates you intend to travel rather than assuming another airline serves the same city pair.
