Both booking windows have ended. Their dates, travel periods and advertised prices were different, so the offers should not be treated as one sale.

Southwest’s June 10, 2024 announcement described Wanna Get Away Week as an opportunity to book discounted fares and earn points. The separate June 18, 2024 birthday announcement promoted starting one-way fares. The dates and travel periods above come from the airlines’ respective 2024 offer announcements; the promotions are not currently available to book.

What the advertised prices meant
“Up to 50% off” was a maximum, not a typical saving
The 50% figure referred to the maximum advertised discount on base fares during Wanna Get Away Week. Southwest did not publish a statistic for typical savings across all routes, nor does the maximum show what a particular traveler would have saved. It should not be read as a guaranteed discount on every flight.
“As low as $53 one-way” was a starting fare
The birthday-sale figure was a starting price, not a promise that every destination or travel date would be available at $53. Southwest’s June 18 release listed sample routes, not a complete inventory of flights and fares.

For both sales, Southwest stated that restrictions, exclusions and blackout dates applied; seats, markets and travel days were limited; and savings were calculated before government taxes and fees. The two advertised formats—a percentage discount and a starting one-way price—do not establish which sale offered better value. That would depend on the route, date and fare available at the time.
Why sale fares could be hard to find
Even while a promotion is active, its lowest fares may not appear on every flight, date or route, and they can sell out quickly. Southwest’s current Flight Sale Information page explains that sale fares are subject to availability. A low sample fare therefore cannot be assumed to apply to a traveler’s preferred itinerary.

Can you use either sale now?
No. The booking windows closed in June 2024, and the associated travel windows ended in 2024. The historical advertised fares are not bookable through those expired offers. If you are looking for a current fare, check Southwest’s available flights and any current promotions rather than relying on these 2024 prices.
What if you booked before the sale?
Southwest’s help page addresses travelers who booked before a sale or promotion was advertised. Any options depend on the booking and the terms that apply; the 2024 sale announcements do not establish a blanket right to receive the later sale price. Consult Southwest’s current guidance or contact the airline about the specific reservation.
