The announced plan is to integrate Arco’s technology and expertise into Sophos Central through the company’s CISO Advantage strategy. That is a strategic direction and planned integration—not evidence that the complete service is already generally available worldwide.
What does Arco Cyber add to Sophos?
Arco Cyber is a cybersecurity assurance company. Sophos says Arco’s capabilities can help organizations move beyond seeing alerts and security activity to assessing whether their controls are effective, how those controls relate to business risk and compliance requirements, and what decision-makers should understand about the results. Sophos announced the acquisition and its intention to bring that expertise into Sophos Central. Sophos’s acquisition announcement describes the planned capabilities.
- Control validation: continuously assess whether security controls are in place and working as intended.
- Risk and compliance mapping: relate controls to relevant risk and compliance frameworks.
- Executive insight: turn technical evidence into information that can support business decisions.
These capabilities address a different question from threat detection alone. Detecting suspicious activity helps teams respond to threats; assurance is meant to help them evaluate whether the broader security program is appropriately configured and aligned with organizational priorities. Sophos CEO Joe Levy framed the gap as the ability to govern security tools, understand whether controls are working, and make informed risk decisions.
Why Sophos wants MSPs and MSSPs involved
Sophos presents CISO Advantage as a way to extend CISO-level guidance to organizations that may not have a dedicated security executive. Its proposed mix includes AI-assisted systems, an integrated platform, and human expertise delivered with managed service providers (MSPs) and managed security service providers (MSSPs). That is Sophos’s stated strategy, not an independently demonstrated outcome.

The partner role is to put security information in context and help customers decide what to do about it. Sophos says it wants MSPs and MSSPs to become strategic security advisers, not only operators of technology. Sophos product executive Rob Harrison described the business questions behind that shift: “How do those investments align to your strategy? How do you know you’re actually getting a return on that investment in a transparent, repeatable way? And how do you know the controls are configured properly and actually protecting you?” CRN’s report on the acquisition also characterizes it as an expansion into governance, risk, and compliance beyond threat detection and response.
CRN reported Harrison’s vision for Sophos Central to show a customer’s wider security program, risk profile, and investment outcomes, rather than only detections. That should be read as a description of the intended direction, not as confirmation that those views are already delivered in the product.
What is known about rollout and availability?
CRN reported that Sophos planned a phased rollout beginning in the UK, where Arco had its deepest regulatory-framework coverage. The reported plan included expansion to North America and Europe within one quarter, early access for select MSPs, and a global rollout within 12 months. These are reported rollout plans, not a current availability statement. The published material cited here does not establish present general availability, regional eligibility, or how customers can purchase or access the integrated capabilities; organizations and partners should confirm those details with Sophos.
CRN said deal terms were not disclosed and reported that about eight Arco employees, including the founders, were coming over. Sophos’s announcement and the CRN report do not establish a disclosed purchase price, measured customer outcomes, or proof of improved compliance, reduced incidents, or return on security investment from the integration.

How to assess the strategy as a customer or service provider
The acquisition is most relevant to organizations and partners that need to explain security posture and spending in business terms. When evaluating any assurance offering, focus on what it can actually show and how the evidence will be used:
- Validation method: ask what data supports a claim that a control is effective, how often it is checked, and what limitations apply.
- Framework coverage: confirm which risk and compliance frameworks are supported for your sector and region.
- Tool integration: determine whether evidence can be gathered from your existing security tools and whether gaps require manual work.
- Reporting quality: check whether executives can see risk and investment context without mistaking activity metrics for proof of protection.
- Human oversight: clarify which analysis, recommendations, and follow-up are automated and which require an MSP, MSSP, or security specialist.
- Service-provider workflow: for MSPs and MSSPs, assess whether the approach supports multi-customer operations and fits existing service delivery.
- Outcome measurement: agree how changes in control effectiveness or risk will be measured; do not assume a report by itself proves ROI.
Sophos also announced a separate partnership with Spektrum Labs involving Sophos MDR and cyber-resilience validation for insurance underwriting. That is adjacent to, not part of, the Arco acquisition; its availability and eligibility should be checked separately. Sophos’s announcement of the Spektrum Labs partnership said the offering was initially available to select customers and partners, with broader availability expected in mid-2026.
