What is Solana DvP?
Delivery-versus-payment (DvP) links the delivery of an asset to payment for it. The aim is to avoid principal risk: one party should not deliver value without receiving the other leg. Solana DvP is intended to place both legs in escrow and settle them atomically in one transaction, or settle neither. The Solana Foundation describes the intended result as finality in seconds rather than days; that is a design and capability claim, not an independently measured production service level. The Foundation says traditional settlement through clearinghouses, depositories and custodians can tie up capital for one to two days. That comparison is the Foundation’s, not an independent market-wide study.
What did J.P. Morgan contribute?
The Foundation credits J.P. Morgan with input on institutional settlement practices and requirements. Rhodel D’souza, J.P. Morgan’s Head of Markets Digital Assets, said the bank was pleased to contribute its settlement expertise. The Foundation’s disclaimer says J.P. Morgan did not design, develop, operate, approve, certify, endorse or guarantee Solana DvP. The contribution should therefore be understood as input, not bank sponsorship or validation. Does this mean J.P. Morgan is using Solana for settlement?
No such deployment is announced. The Foundation’s October 6 release does not name a live DvP customer or provide settled-volume figures. It describes an infrastructure launch and says it welcomes design partners and early participants ahead of production release. J.P. Morgan’s contribution alone is not evidence that the bank has moved trades onto Solana.
What assets and integrations does it support?
The Foundation says the program supports SPL Token and Token-2022, including permanent delegate, pausable-token and transfer-hook extensions used by regulated issuers. It says two counterparties can use the program with a settlement agent, such as a bank, custodian or exchange. These are stated capabilities and intended integrations; they do not establish regulatory approval, compliance for a particular asset, or actual use by any named agent. Solana Foundation announcement

What happens in the settlement workflow?
The documentation says CreateDvp records the trade terms and creates two escrow accounts; it does not transfer tokens at creation. The trade record includes a settlement authority. The parties or an operator must verify the stored terms before acting. Atomic execution links the transfer legs, but it does not remove the need to consider who has authority, how the transaction is set up, asset controls and operational steps. Solana DvP documentation
Expiry and recovery paths
Only Settle checks expiry. The documentation says reclaim, cancel and reject paths can still work after expiry. It also cautions that on-chain time can differ from wall-clock time by tens of seconds and can jump forward, so it recommends a margin around intended settlement and expiry. Are privacy features and audits available?
Privacy features are planned, not described as available in the launch announcement. The Foundation says external security audits have been completed and calls the program ready for use with real funds, but the announcement does not name audit firms or link audit reports. As of October 2, 2026, the documentation said no client package had been published and instructed developers to generate clients from the program IDL and use them from source. This is a time-sensitive status: consult the current documentation and program repository before choosing an integration approach.
