The Solana Foundation announced Solana DvP on October 6, 2026: an open-source, MIT-licensed escrow program and API intended to let institutions settle asset and payment legs together on Solana. The Foundation says settlement can reach finality in seconds, but that is a product claim—not an independently verified performance result. JPMorgan provided input on institutional settlement practices and requirements; the announcement does not say the bank built, operates, endorses, or uses the program for live trades.
What Solana DvP is
Solana DvP is software for delivery-versus-payment (DvP) settlement. In a DvP transaction, the delivery of an asset is linked to its payment so that one side does not complete while the other fails. The Foundation describes its program as a reusable, open settlement standard for financial institutions, rather than a bespoke contract each pair of counterparties must create independently. It is released under the MIT license, according to the Solana Foundation announcement.
The program is designed for two counterparties to transact with a settlement agent, such as a bank, custodian, or exchange. The Foundation says it supports SPL Token and Token-2022 assets, including selected Token-2022 extensions: permanent delegate, pausable tokens, and transfer hooks. That support does not establish compatibility with every token, extension, compliance setup, or institutional workflow.
How the intended settlement works
The Foundation says Solana DvP uses isolated escrow and deadlines to put both sides of a trade into a single atomic transaction. If the transaction succeeds, asset and payment settle together; if it fails, neither leg settles. That is the intended mechanism for reducing the risk that one counterparty delivers while the other does not pay.

The Foundation says this can provide finality in seconds rather than the multi-day process it associates with traditional markets. It is a launch claim, not a published independent benchmark: the announcement does not provide measured settlement times, operating conditions, or live-trade results. Catherine Gu, the Foundation’s head of product for digital assets, described the goal as “finality in seconds instead of days.”
What JPMorgan’s input does—and does not—mean
The Foundation says J.P. Morgan contributed input on institutional settlement practices and requirements. Rhodel D’souza, head of markets digital assets at J.P. Morgan, said the bank was “pleased to contribute our settlement expertise.” The announcement describes input, not implementation or adoption. It does not establish that JPMorgan built or operates Solana DvP, endorsed it for use, or is settling trades through it.

Launch status, audits, and privacy
The Foundation says the program has undergone external security audits and is ready for real funds, but its announcement does not identify the auditors or publish results there. The Foundation is also seeking design partners and early participants ahead of a production release. CoinDesk’s October 6, 2026 coverage likewise reported that design partners were being sought. The launch announcement therefore does not establish broad institutional adoption or live settlement volume.
Privacy is described as a roadmap item, not a current capability. The announcement does not establish confidential settlement as available in the launched program.

What institutions would still need to assess
An atomic transaction can address the specific failure mode where delivery and payment do not occur together. It does not by itself answer every operational, legal, custody, or compliance question involved in institutional settlement. - Whether its assets and required token extensions are supported.
- How its settlement agent, custody arrangements, and internal controls would work with the program.
- Whether public-infrastructure settlement and the current privacy capabilities meet its requirements.
- What the audit reports cover and whether the institution’s own security review finds the program suitable.
- Whether the production release, operational procedures, and counterparties are ready for its specific use case.
