Regular Social Security payments in August 2025 are scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 20, or 27, depending on the beneficiary’s birth date. People who qualify for a different schedule—including some long-term beneficiaries and people receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI)—follow separate dates.
August 2025 Social Security payment dates
For most people receiving retirement, survivor, or disability benefits, the day of the month they were born determines which Wednesday applies:
| Birth date | August 2025 payment date |
|---|---|
| 1st–10th | Wednesday, August 13 |
| 11th–20th | Wednesday, August 20 |
| 21st–31st | Wednesday, August 27 |
These dates follow the Social Security Administration’s 2025 benefit payment schedule. The “next round” is the next date in the row that matches your birth date; there is not one payment date for everyone.
Who follows a different payment schedule?
People who began receiving Social Security before May 1, 1997
People who filed for Social Security before May 1, 1997 generally receive their payment on the third of the month rather than on a birthday-based Wednesday. The SSA explains this distinction in its Glossary of Social Security Terms. The 2025 calendar says people in this group who also receive SSI generally get SSI on the first and Social Security on the third.

People receiving SSI
SSI is separate from the Wednesday schedule for Social Security retirement, survivor, and disability benefits. SSI is generally scheduled for the first day of the month. If that day falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the payment is dated for the preceding day that is not a weekend or federal holiday, according to the SSA’s Glossary of Social Security Terms.

The SSA’s 2025 calendar advises: “If you don’t receive your payment on the expected date, please allow three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security.” Once that time has passed, use the agency’s official contact or account channels to check on the payment. Also check with your financial institution, since a delay may involve the bank or credit union rather than your benefit record.
