Scroll’s Smart Shopper was presented as a Chrome extension that could find and apply shopping discounts while sending Scroll a small commission on purchases made through it. In a December 1, 2023 sponsored announcement, Scroll claimed access to deals from more than 150,000 brands and an average discount of 10%; those figures were promotional claims, not independently verified results. The announcement is historical, so it does not establish whether the extension is currently available or what permissions and privacy terms it has today.
What Smart Shopper is—and who announced it
Scroll.in’s Brand Studio introduced Smart Shopper as a Chrome extension made in partnership with Kindred. Its December 1, 2023 post was labeled a partnered post, so it should be read as promotional material rather than an independent product review or test. Read Scroll’s announcement.
What the deal and discount figures mean
The announcement uses two different measures: the number of brands and the number of deals. It says Smart Shopper covered more than 150,000 brands and offered more than 550,000 deals. Nykaa, Myntra, and ShopClues are named as examples. These are figures Scroll published in 2023; the post does not establish that they remain current.
Scroll also claimed an average discount of 10%. The announcement provides no calculation method, sample, or independent verification, so this should not be treated as a guaranteed saving or a measure of what an individual shopper would receive.

How the extension was advertised to work
Scroll said Smart Shopper could surface relevant coupon codes and discounts while users shopped at online stores, then automatically apply available deals at checkout. That describes the advertised functionality; the announcement does not report independent testing of coupon coverage, successful applications, or savings.

How Scroll said it would earn revenue
Scroll disclosed that it would receive a small commission when a user purchased through the extension. Its announcement states: “Every time you purchase something using this extension, Scroll will earn a small commission.” It does not specify the commission rate, attribution method, cookie duration, or other tracking terms. The stated relationship is therefore a disclosed commerce arrangement, but the post is not a detailed account of how purchase attribution works.
Installation instructions in the 2023 announcement
The post described this setup process at the time:

- Accept the permission prompt shown by Chrome.
- Return to Scroll.in; pin the extension to Chrome’s toolbar if desired.

What to check before using any shopping extension
If considering a coupon extension, check its current store coverage and geographic availability, whether codes are applied automatically or require a click, and what permissions it requests. Read its privacy notice for details about browsing and purchase data, and look for a clear explanation of how commissions or other referral revenue are attributed. The 2023 Smart Shopper announcement does not answer those current questions.
