Sky’s announced 2026 price increases are no longer “coming soon”: the mobile change began on 14 February, and broadband, TV and home-phone changes began on 1 April. Most Sky broadband customers were told to expect £3 more a month; some TV products rose by £1–£3, while most Sky Mobile customers saw £1.50 added to their monthly bill. Your own notice and bill show whether those changes apply to your account and the exact amount.
How much did Sky prices go up by, and when?
The changes were not a single increase applied to every Sky customer. The announced amount depends on the service and, for TV, the product. Sky said affected customers would receive information about how their own products and services were affected.

Sky’s announcement said “the majority” of mobile customers and “most” broadband customers would be affected, while “some” TV products would change. The available information is not a complete tariff-by-tariff list for every account, so do not assume the figures above apply to your package. Check your personalised notice and latest bill. How to check what your Sky bill will be
- Find Sky’s price-change notice and note its date and the amount listed for each service you have.
- Compare the notice with your latest bill and the details in your My Sky account.
- If the figures do not match, ask Sky to explain the difference and keep a record of the response.
The general announcement cannot calculate an individual customer’s new bill. Package scope and exclusions can vary, so use the amount Sky gave you rather than applying a headline figure to every product on your account.

Can I leave Sky without an exit fee?
Some customers affected by the April broadband and TV changes had a penalty-free exit route, but it is not safe to assume every Sky customer can cancel without charge. Ofcom’s 2026 report says existing Sky customers affected by the announced April rises had a penalty-free exit right. It also says customers who joined after Sky announced the rise were told about it at sign-up and did not necessarily have the same exit right. MoneySavingExpert reported a 30-day penalty-free cancellation window for affected broadband and home-phone customers; TV cancellation rights depend on the exact service. It also reported cases where customers were initially told they might owe a termination charge, which Sky later resolved and addressed with revised adviser guidance. Check your own notice and contract, and get any early-termination charge confirmed in writing before arranging a switch. MoneySavingExpert’s coverage sets out those reported cases.

What Ofcom’s rules mean for price rises
Since 17 January 2025, providers cannot offer new contracts with inflation-linked or percentage-based price rises. Any specified rise in a new contract must be set out clearly in pounds and pence before sign-up. Older contracts can have different terms.
If your contract does not specify how much the price will rise and your provider increases it, Ofcom says the provider must generally give at least 30 days’ notice and then provide a 30-day window to exit. Eligibility for a social tariff may also allow a customer to move without penalty. Before you cancel or switch
- Check your contract start date, minimum-term status and the price-rise terms that applied when you joined.
- Contact Sky within the cancellation window stated in your notice if you intend to leave, and ask it to confirm any early-termination charge in writing before switching.
- Compare the full cost, contract length, broadband speed, coverage, TV content and exit costs of alternatives. Offers can depend on postcode and may expire; a lower headline price may come with different service or introductory pricing.
- Check whether you qualify for a social tariff if your household income or qualifying benefits make that relevant.
Is the TV licence rise part of Sky’s increase?
No. The annual colour TV licence fee rose to £180 from 1 April 2026, up £5.50 a year (about 46p a month), according to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. That is a separate government-set charge, not a Sky subscription increase. The government’s announcement gives the licence-fee change.
