Paramount Skydance’s new Class B stock, ticker PSKY, closed its first trading day at $11.74 on August 7, 2025—up 10 cents, or 1%, according to Reuters. That verified debut does not support the claim that the shares fell on day one, and the available figures here do not establish how the stock performed over the following sessions.
What happened on PSKY’s first trading day?
The merger between Paramount Global and Skydance closed before the market opened on August 7, 2025. Nasdaq identifies August 7 as the first trade date for Paramount Skydance Corporation Class B common stock, trading under the symbol PSKY. Reuters reported that the shares closed that session at $11.74, up $0.10, or 1%, from the prior reference price.

That is a one-day result, not a multi-day trend. The reported figure does not give an opening price, intraday high or low, trading volume, or closing prices for the next sessions. It therefore cannot establish whether the stock “struggled” in its first days or explain any later movement.
Why did a new stock appear after the merger?
PSKY represented the combined company, not simply a renamed version of the old Paramount shares. Nasdaq’s corporate-action notice says the merger closed before the August 7 open and sets out how legacy holders’ shares were converted. The transaction terms provided different consideration elections for Class A and Class B holders.

Paramount Global’s SEC Form 8-K says the legacy Paramount Global Class A and Class B shares were cancelled and retired. Holders received cash or Class B shares under the merger terms. Nasdaq’s notice specifies one PSKY Class B share for each eligible Paramount Global Class B share, subject to the election terms; Class A holders had separate terms.
The filing also describes financing and post-closing ownership. It reports a $6.0 billion aggregate PIPE purchase price, less an approximately $29 million discount, for 400 million Class B shares at a stated $15.00 per-share price, as well as warrants for certain investors. NAI and its subsidiaries held all Class A voting shares after closing; Class B ownership was distributed among former Paramount holders, PIPE investors, and former Skydance owners. These disclosures describe the transaction and ownership structure; they do not establish what the stock was worth or why it traded at a particular price.

What business conditions formed the backdrop?
Paramount entered the combined company with pressure on its traditional television business. Reuters described declining linear television as viewers shifted toward streaming and reported nearly $6 billion in cable-asset write-downs. That is relevant business context, but it is not evidence that cable weakness caused the PSKY price to move on any specific trading day.
Management also presented plans and targets for the combined company. Paramount Skydance’s investor-relations page describes planned output commitments and a target of at least $6 billion in run-rate synergies within three years. Those are company-stated forward-looking goals, not achieved savings or guaranteed results.

What is the ticker now?
PSKY was the ticker Nasdaq identified for the August 7, 2025 debut. In a filing dated October 2, 2026, the issuer said it intended to transfer its listing to the New York Stock Exchange and change the ticker from PSKY to SKYD on or about October 6. The filing states an intention and expected date; it does not, by itself, confirm that the transfer and ticker change were completed. Check a current exchange or issuer source before relying on either symbol for a present-day quote.
